Start spamming local every 15 minutes with a distress call. Depending on what class it is, you might get lucky.

One guy got lost and tried offering a reward for people to scan him down and get him out, but you have to have pretty deep pockets to make that happen. Most of the time anyone who scans you down is just going to kill you. Godspeed. |

If the wormhole out has closed and you've lost your probes, you're kinda screwed. While it's possible you can find someone to help you scan your way out, most likely they'll just kill you. If all else fails, self destruct your pod. |

The exploration channel can also be useful, plenty of people would be willing to keep their eyes pealed for your particular system, assuming you offer a decent amount of isk as a reward.
But i'd highly recommend you only pay them when you're safely out. If they've got an issue with that, then best to turn down their offer. There are far too many people that would take your isk and give you nothing, or worse still, kill you as well.

If you jump out of the system, they return to your hold. If their duration runs out, they return to your hold.
Short of destroying the probes, it is not even possible anymore. |

I guess I'm an aberration then. I logged on today and find core probes, a pod, and a frigate wreck on dscan. Convo the pilot. Find he hasn't bm'd the exit and show him the way out. No reason not to help a newbro out who has obviously already learned that wspace is dangerous.
I know violence isn't the answer. I got it wrong on purpose. |

Pretty much this.
And not only newbies. I've been shown the door when lost once (although it cost me a couple hundred million), and I've helped others in the same way. If someone genuinely asks for help I'll help. If they stay quiet and I find them then they'll die. *shrugs*
Always, always worth asking the locals before you slot yourself.
