I start up Eve and the initial loading screen comes up but when it disapears to be replaced by the log in screen that normaly follows it i get no window to log in and it still says Eve is active.
I am currently re-installing but any other ideas as to how to fix this?

Cache issue, try cleaning it.

Go into the eve directory and it has a cache sub directory, remove everything in it, and you should be fine again. ( there some files to save if you got bookmarks etc. but don't know them by heart. )

i will try that in the future but i dont think that was the problem as i just reformated my computer and installed eve like 2 days ago and this is the first time i have tried running it

C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache delete all these files.
nb. copy the pref.ini if you have modified it for tweaks !

yeh i know the downtime but even during the downtime u can still see the login page just cant connect

had a bit of a problem getting in, and undocking. looking good now though
sigs of the 23/24/25 hijack just as well -eris
