As some of you may have noticed, a lot of people in hub systems who mine veld all day are using secure cans to mine into.
As they may have noticed, you can't anchor them in high sec.
Thus, just get a hauler and scoop the cans. You get the can AND the ore that way (just repackage the can in a station to get the contents out).
Edit: I forgot the best thing about this, you do not get thief flagged! So all they can do is watch you fly away with their can and their ore

Think you should get flagged so that if they have been smart enough to bring an escort, they could wipe you out

So you are saying you can just role up to a secure can and scoop it into your bay without getting any kind of flag whatsoever? that sounds wierd. And you do this in what security level of space?

If it has little green lights, it's all yours. I was doing this in Ours just a little while ago.
The people who's cans I nicked didn't even notice, they must have been afk

! That's wonderful news! I hate mining but need the minerals, and I had wondered about repackaging secure cans to steal the stuff.
So, you can't anchor in space above .4? That doesn't really make sense to me... but I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. If I wasn't at work, I go hop in me Indy and start now! Daddy needs to build 20 Tristans for yar work! And some med Nos's too... and some ammo...

You can't anchor in space above 0.7.
Don't recycle giant cans, they sell for much more and are generally in good demand.
It's even worth trawling systems down to 0.5 as many people still forget to anchor, or don't want to find room (need to be 5km from nearest object to anchor iirc).

Ok, I couldn't wait to try this, so I headed to a .9 system, Ourapheh and rolled up on a giant secure can, volume 3000m3 in my indy with 9200 m3 free.
I have no option available to scoop this can. So wth? |

Originally you could anchor secure cans in any sec system, then a while back it was changed to 0.7 and below. However all the cans already anchored in 0.8+ systems stayed where they were.
So any cans in 0.8+ space that are anchored (ie red) cannot be scooped. They are undoubtably well old and have not been used in ages but they still remain there contributing to lag.
Any NEW secure cans being used by noobs in 0.8+ who don't really understand the whole secure can thing will be green (ie unanchored) and you can nick them.

if people are trying to use secure cans in high sec.... they probably had to save up money to buy that can, and are complete newbs.
blowing up or stealing from people who know what they are doing is at least SLIGHTLY sane-ishly decent.
stealing like that is just taking candy from babys, and is disgusting.

Aint it the truth. And just outa curiosity, I took my frigate out in a 0.8 system, just to look around, and managed to find 4 unanchored cans, 1 huge can. A few of the cans had minerals in them too! So ladies and gentleman, there are cans out there, free for you :)

If it's green you can scoop it to your cargo
If it's red it is anchored
If you repackge it u get what's inside with no password
(reprocess is not necessary)

You are better off reading macro media's guides on theft. Stealing secure cans is a pocket change exercise.
