Thank you to all the immature and impetuous whiners out there. Your spoiled-brat whining resulted in the removal of one of the more exciting things to happen in the world of Eve lately.
The Scope was doing an excellent job, as far as I could tell, but the whiners raised their screechy little voices and it had to be pulled before accusations against Polaris reached an even higher level than normal.
What a bunch of kids.

I'm seriously gutted. I can understand why you pulled the player-focused news reporting but, and I hesitate to draw real-life comparisons to the world of Eve, any real newspaper accused of favouritism would come out fighting rather than have it's credibility and journalistic professionalism doubted by any minority of loud-mouthed individuals.

I just hope that this game will survive this type of decision making process. What could have been turned into the greatest word-of-mouth advertising tool, that of actual "story!" is now but a memory.
I will lift up my drink in memory of this, and hope it's not held up as an example of "What MMOG's should never do..."

If it was JUST the Scope, the program would do just that, and defend itself. However, it is not just that.
The Scope is linked to Polaris, and percieved bias by the Scope is being shifted to Polaris as a whole. I cannot allow that to happen. As a result, that portion of the Scope has to go.

Instead of the purple Polaris just have a green "Scope" there problem solved. I'm sure its not too hard for CCP to implement and considering the player demand.
Come on just suggest that scorp not be regarded as polaris but as scorp with your own green scorpe logo to seperate you and polaris.
Just DO IT! Please don't let let it die!

... 'Tis seems like fairly good solution; Mr.Hobbes, why not have something like (seemingly) separate Scope team, possibly together with a stickie in the Scope forum... detailing how the players can contact the team and tip off the correspondents about what they think is important... or even how to try to join the Scope rank themselves?
And like someone else suggested... let them be biased, it's nearly impossible to avoid.. just try to keep the bias spreaded more or less evenly. :s

This game needs The Scope in some format.....make it a separate entity from Polaris or something.....but bring it back soon!
EVERY newspaper in the world has writers who express their opinion while stating the facts.
Simply quoting facts and figures is incredibly dull to read.....we need reporters who show some thought.

Another vote here for bringing back scope as seperate entity. It really was a good idea, just not implemented perfectly. But delay news with critical information a little, so there will be no complains about fleet info like with the FA report.

Finally, something interesting, something I looked forward to reading, something that gave life to EVE for everyone, something that actually KEPT people from leaving the game.
I can't remember how long people have complained of no information, no CONTENT and now that we finally get it, it's taken away?
I understand the fear of connecting the Scope to Polaris... So break it off from polaris! Where is it stated that there can only be one volunteer program?!? Make a new entity who's sole purpose is exactly what they are doing, have editorial sections with columnists with different viewpoints! Good lord CCP think about this please. In all honesty so many of the people I know are getting ready to leave to different games or just plain quit! But today all I heard was the excitement that the Scope was generating that EVERY single one of them were going to re-up their subs. Does this not show you something? We came to EVE looking for this, we were promised this! Do something anything to make this happen. Polaris is fine for assistance and in game events. Great leave it that way. Make a new independent group for the SCOPE. Please, you can't imagine what EVE has lost today! I went from completely excited to totally crushed...

It was not so much whining but a comment made mistakenly on that board, it was late and I had forgotten the rules I've read some hours before...
But really, is reports about some moronic herd calling themselves borg challenging M0o to a buffÚ in velators at FD-MLJ newsworthy? Not to mention in violation of prime fiction as I see it.

I went to bed last night after seeing the player numbers up for the first time in a while thinking the games getting good again.
Then another lamearse decision by someone involved in game management and we're right back to last week.
Where is Pann while all this is going on??

any o you lamers want to get on the news dont expect THE SCOPE to know your plan's for battle damn it if YOU want your five mins of fame advise a SCOPE member of whats going on so they can send a reporter to get an unbiased veiw and then they can report it. Dont expect them to come running to you cos you blew up a few ships.

bring back scope.
i need something intresting to read when i am at work.
make it a seperate entity, give the players in scope press passes = freedom to travel to hotspots with out the fear of being harmed to report on both sides of a conflict.
if there is just your run of the mill pirate activity, then they can use unnamed sources for the players.
come get your act together and listen to the majority of the players who want this back. give us the content we desire.

I agree with Joshua on this one. Way to go, whiners. 
Despite the fact that I found the Scope to be a bit biased, and quick to believe what they are told, and also none too willing to check with the 'other' side of their story for clarification. (point in question: TTi giving away free BS's to pirate corps)
But that's how most news services IRL work anyway.
I may not have agreed with everything they wrote, but it was entertaining. I'm sad to see it crushed by the weak-minded.
