Reading the Tier 3 threads that are floating about, someone mentioned something which struck a chord with me, I'll point it out now for those who can't be bothered to read my justification for it..... Minmatar Tier 3 BS = structure tank.
read that? ready to flame?.... ok here's the thought process.
Amarrians - Amour Tank
Caldari - Shield Tank
Gallente - actually, I don't know, never flown them or fought them much, enlighten me.
Minmatar - Mixed Shield and Armour Tank
Structure tanking is currently starting to get some loving, we've got modules (oh alright, just one module) that affects armour resistances, hull reppers are going to be getting some loving (at least thats what I seem to remember), and then we have the new "Tier 3" Battleships coming in.
Hippos thread is basically about why we don't just want an "UBERWTFPWNAGE" version of existing ships, and here we have (in structure tanking) a golden opportunity for thinking outside the box in ship design, maybe even taking our racial trends a step further, but with a sacrifice.
Essentially what I propose is a reduction of at least 50% in shields and armour for the new Tier 3 Matari BS, along with inbuilt damage-control nanobots and nanobot factories (OOC - that means an increase in structure res's and a reduction in structure repair time/cap)
With the mass saved from the reduction in armour plating, and the removal of potentially bulky shield generators, it would also be possible to increase the power available to the onboard inertial dampners and vectored thrust systems (OOC - an increase in speed and agility)
This would IMHO place the Matari Tier3 BS at the forefront of a fast, hard-hitting strike force, creating a distinct role for the ship, whilst preserving the roles of our existing Battleships.

you're a joke...
and it doesn't take a genious to see that almost all gallente ships have more lows then mids, so they armor tank.

Omg, Minmatar proposed as hull tankers?
I wouldnt be surprised if someone would propse Gallente with their high hull hp by default.....but Minmatar?!....omg...this is just....lol?
