Currently running lvl 4's with a drake as my tank and a ganked torp raven as main damage. I was wondering until I can afford a rattlesnake witch would be the better option the gila or nighthawk. I can t2 Sheila tank very well(all skills at 4 or 5) and am close to t2 sentrys. Just wanted some all around input on the subject. |

I'd get a T3, unreal PvE ships, but Gila or Nighthawk, i'd say Nighthawk. also when you get your rattlesnake you should easily have over 200,000 EHP and be able to recharge your shields faster then a Drake. Enjoy man, and hope I helped some "I came in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you **** with me, I'll kill you all"

The nighthawk will give you more options (gank link modules) and do more damage, I believe.
Not sure what you're trained for- but if you are thinking about BC V (for the NH)- then better to do cruiser V and get a tengu. You may not want an RS then :)
I've tried many combos for L4s: RS + Raven, RS + tengu, RS + NH, RS +RS, orca + tengu/others, Golem +tengu, etc etc- and by far the MOST fun (for me) is tengu + tengu :)
When I want to salvage- the the best combo is orca + tengu
And under intoxicated circumstances I prefer tengu only (even though I recently lost a very expensive faction fitted tengu when I forgot that I was in a mission, while chatting to someone) |

I've flown the Gila in Lvl 4's, and it's quite enjoyable if you like using drones. The tank is comparable to a drake on recharge alone, plus you can speed tank it better as well. I intend to get into a nighthawk soon, but I haven't tried it yet. Eft wise, I can see getting a bit better passive tank on the nighthawk, but a Gila is plenty for lvl 4's anyway.
The main question is whether your missile or drone skills are better, really. |

I would go Gila because
- It can tank L4's easy if you fit/fly it right - You can assign the drones to your Raven (Assist) so you don't need to keep flipping between clients to apply dps. - Sentries kick out nearly 500dps, which I believe will be more than you'll get from the NightHawk with a L4 tank.

Just get a Tengu with 6 launchers trust me lvl 4s will fly by. If you really like drone boats though the Gila is a good one. If you do get a T3 please get the subsystems to lvl 5, really it doesnt take long and is well worth it "I came in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you **** with me, I'll kill you all"

This. Given you have skills for sentries (ideally T2). The micromanagement of 2x 100% (or 90%) missile boats is a pain after a while.
I've used Ishtar and Tengu combos for anomalies (Gurista) and worked a charm with the Ishtar perma-tanking and the Tengu with assigned sentries roaming the field.
The thing is, you have to allow for 1-2 omnidirectionals in your setup - so don't plan for using full tank mids...it's a waste. In ishtar's case, I could easily do that with armor tanking it. Never tried the gila for that matter. "War does not determine who is right - only who is left." -- Bertrand Russell |

Erm. No. Except for the bit about assigning drones; I'll give you that.
NH can easily tank any L4 and can do so cap stable if you so choose. Maximum drone damage is 518 DPS (5x Garde IIs 2x SDA Is). NH pushes nearly 700 (4x CN BCUs, BLA II, Scourge Fury, number includes Hobgoblin IIs, which is cheating, but oh well).
Throwing a passive tank on either one will eat away at DPS (Purgers on the Gila, BCUs and Purgers on the NH). But the thing is, the Gila really, really wants to be passively tanked and the NH really, really doesn't.
Having flown both in PvE, the NH just plain wins if you're willing to drop the skill time on it. Of course that raises the issue of why you'd do that when a Tengu is so much more accessible, but hey, I've had the NH since well before Tengus were dreamed up. |
