What is the longest bout of learning skills that you did at the start? I've just finished Analytical Mind IV; putting my learning skills and stats at:
Analytical Mind IV Instant Recall IV Iron Will I Learning III -> training to Learning IV Spatial Awareness I
This actually brings my learning skill category as the highest by about 8000 points (Alittle short of Spaceship Command). Personally I think I've been rather patient with my characters building, and although I'm only flying a rather crappy Incursus, I 1 shot pretty much everything my Level 1 agents give me.
Can anyone one-up me at the beginning? I'm sure theres someone who has probably trained the 60 days fully. But that person probably had an alt to play around with too.
But I have one more question, this one a bit more skill related. The ship I'm looking forward to when I finish learning is a Vexor. What other skills do you think I should have besides the Spaceship Command ones, please note I want this ship to be able to do a bit of everything.
So far I'm looking at:
Drones Combat Drones Mining Drones
Electronics Propulsion Jamming
Engineering Energy Emissions Shield Management Shield Operation
Gunnery Controlled Bursts Medium Hybrid Turret Small Hybrid Turret Rapid Firing Weapon Upgrades
Mining
Hull Upgrades Mechanic Repair Systems
Acceleration Control Afterburner Evasive Manuevering Fuel Conservation Navigation
Gallente Frigate Gallente Cruiser Spaceship Command
Also before I forget, are there any other skills besides Drones that increase the number of drones you can have out at once? Only being able to have 6 drones out at once seems kinda bad, and I've seen videos of people with a ton more then that.
Thanks in advance; I know its a big post.

I think I have you beat. I started my character 1 month and 1 day ago, and currently 99% of my SP have gone into learning. I have 1,280,296 SP in Learning, and 1,300,620 points overall. My learning skills are as follows.
Analytical Mind V Logic IV Instant Recall V Eidetic Memory IV Spatial Awareness V Iron Will IV (Training to V) Empathy IV (Done with this) Learning IV (Will train to V)
I plan to get the advanced perc/will skills to IV before I slack off, and no, I don't have an alt to play with.

Max drones you can have out is 5. --- The Netsphere is still expanding... |

When I started I had about of week of non-learning training so i could something other than civilian modules, the ntook a couple of weeks to train the basic learnings to 4. Took a couple of weeks after that to get my cruiser and appropriate equipment for it, now I'm working on the advanced learnings. Character's about 5 weeks old, with ~60% of my SP in learning. Will most likely be closer to 80% by the time i finish the advanced skills.

Isn't that 36 million worth of learning skills you've trained?
How did you make that money flying a newbie ship?

well 2 day old character and i've made about 4mil with loot drops from deadspace zones (the starter ones) and running the first set of agent missions (sold the implant for 2.5 mil so that helped along with a certain loot drop that went for 3 mil)
But not in the starter ship anymore. Got 2 now that i am using. One for missions (slasher with rockets and matched guns, and some decent modules[upgrading them soon]) and a miner (probe with 2 cargo expanders, dual miner 1s, civilian afterburner [going to upgrade that] and a loot drop civilian shield booster [even in safe space some hate you tapping a massive scordite roid])
I did break from the learning skills to pick up some of the more useful skills to help while i grind out the core learning.

Bugger that. I wanted something intresting to fly before I went all out on my learnings, so I trained up enough skills to fly a Cruiser (Rupture) proficiently, so I can make a bit of cash while doing my learnings.
Currently now have all the basics at 4 or 5, polishing off Basic Mem or 5 in 2 days, then taking that straight up to advanced 4, then Int to Advanced 4, then the rest of them.
Having a cruiser makes NPC's a breeze, can take on 3 Battlecruiser class NPC's at once without worry and wipe them in a few minutes, netting me over 1/2 a million ISK + Drops (get a few True Sansha drops from this now, which sell nicely ) I need the moeny for the Advanced Learnings, but, 4.5 Million is less than an hours work now, so its all good.
Also have a Mining cruiser and Hauler to mine mins, so I can make my own ammo for my Rupture (which chews through it like a knife through butter.) Sure, it took a wee bit longer to tain them, but its saving me cash (lots of cash. Ammo producers really jack up their prices btw.)
It probably helped that my corp was at war when I joined, so I kind of had to train up combat skills to lend a hand. Its paid off in the end though, I'm having a blast, and my Learnings are pouring in thick and fast with the implants I can afford to jam in my head.

It's not good for your mental health to try to do Learning to 5 and advanced stat skills to 4 in one stretch. For one thing it would take like 3 months, and you need to buy 5 books @ 4.5 million each so you need some way of making some cash.
Learning 5 and advanced stats to 4 is about 2.2 million sp (I don't have exact number, I'm at work.)

Well I plan to do learning and the basic learning skills to 5 then do other skills till I got the cash for the advanced ones. They will be my downtime/work/afk skills.

It actually isn't 36 million, 4 x 4.5 = 18 million + 500k for others (Estimate there) so we're talking 18.5 million. I did break slightly from the skills early on to get a decet frigate and outfit it appropriately, and I get my money from agents / deadspace drops. Also I've run a 5/10 plex with a few of my corp mates and handled drones / lighter stuff, of the 7-8 BSs that were destroyed I got to loot one and earned a few million from that. So its not too hard to afford the skills, and I figure they'll pay off. I might get lazy and not train Learning to V but will/perc advanced skills will definitely get trained to IV.

Hello all,
I'm completly new here (have had the game about a week). I'm wondering if taking all these learning skills so early is really such a huge benefit that you'd forgo learning any other skills?
Sorry to hijack the thread with this question

Actually, to answer your question in my own opinion:
The learning skills do eat into what would be considered 'true' learning, since they affect nothing else but your training times. However, once you power on through the time it takes to learn them (Can be up to 2 months) then everything else will simply learn faster.
Learning skills aren't for you unless your into EVE for the long haul, because the learning skills probably won't pay off for themselves until 4-5 months into the game.

This is why I recommend all the newbies to start off with Frigate 4 and Spaceship Command 3 and then some other module related skills, such as gunnery, armor or shield boosters, etc. Get hooked to the game first (and in a cruiser or something) and then do the learning skills. :)

I believe I have to agree with Mike Yagon on this one. I had alittle bit of a boost by getting a set of +3 implants at the start, hence improving my learnign rate signifigantly. But you can't afford things like Cruisers and their modifications, as well as the advanced learning books; atleast not very well just doing Level 1 agente missions.
Personally, I endured getting all the categories to Level IV, and then jumped into a Cruiser and got the correct skills necessary to pilot it well. Hopefully by this saturday I *should* have IR V punched in as well =)

I'm training my Alt all the way to Adv Learning 5 across the board. I started with Frigate 4 and i've made around 35 mil doing lvl1 missions (a couple of lucky loot drops helped there) She's about 1.5 months old and is currently training Logic 5. Only 11 more days to go :P

11 Learning skills trained, for a total of 2,214,825 SkillPoints
Basics at lvl 5, advanced to lvl 4
I knew when I started playing EVE that I would be for a long time. Everyone said don't neglect your learning skills so I maxed them out at the start. Took about 2 months I think...
