Is there a Exploit or bug that is going on that is not being addressed??
I had a guy in a newbie ships firing at my bestower in .8 space and no cops came. I didn't have a gun on me and he didn't really do any dmg. So I just kept mining and he left.
Same thing happened to someong else, no cops came but he fired on the guy and then the cops came for him.
Then I hear about someone camping outside a station and firing on people without the sentry guns taking him out and when the other guy decides to fire on him the guns shoot him while the other player laughs and says "too bad you didn't know about the trick".
Is all this true?

This is one of those "must be fixed ASAP" because if griefers find this exploit out...

Does nobody know?? Or do you just not wish to tell people. The best way to combat this exploit now is to. 1: Tell everybody about it.
2: CCP should make a NEWS POST saying that in while in empire space you should not return fire unless you are at war with the corp, or the other player is found as the aggressor (which means the cops come) and then you are allowed to fire on them, or you know how to do the trick yourself.
Otherwise who knows when CCP will fix this and many players are goin got fall victom to this exploit.
is there not even a CCP response to this??

He probably didn't kill you because he knew he was exploiting a bug.
File an exploit petition on him next time. Just say in the petition that so and so fired on you in 0.8 space and no cops ever showed up.

Our corp. had a mining session interrupted by a griefer who open fire and warped out before any damage was done (even though members swore they hit him) with no CONCORD response.
A mate also had an indy shot out from under him in .9 with no CONCORD response.
However, the gate guns worked just fine when I accidentally target jammed the Khanid navy and vaporized my ship.
No idea if there's a bug or exploit at work here. Maybe Dunkin Donuts was having a special... --------------

The way to combat the exploit:
1) quickly file an exploit petition while the idiot is exploiting.
2) laugh hysterically when a GM shows up and roots his butt looking for an explanation. It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!

Does that Accually happen? I have never seen GMs or Poloris Poeple even come out to a call.
I am aware of filing petitions and bug reports. But as I said something should be posted to the whole community to let them know that this is a possible exploit people are using. So others don't fall victim to it too late.
Most Newbs don't read the forums. Most Newbs don't even know there is a place to post and see other posts. And some few don't know it is a bug. For those people I think it should be put in the player news, so everyone knows and the ones doing it will think twice before attepting it.
CCP was fast to say people will be banned when that grid exploit was being used. This is the same thing. People using it are doing it on perpose.

It is now offical CCP policy that GMs do not come to help petitioners without going through intense panic control and combat training because they get podded when they get there. -

That's dopey. If they can make secure containers essentially bulletproof, they should be able to make special GM shuttles that have the same HPs.... If the GMs who are in operational control of the game are having to actually experience PvP just to deal with PvP problems, the whole thing is broken...
BTW CCP, I'll take a GM shuttle (TM) if ya make em, as payment for the idea. I'd like it to have 100 powercore, 4000 cap and 3 mid slots for ABs and a MWD :) I feel the need for speed!

I had a similar problem. A fellow was camping outside a space station in .7 space. I'd approach, he'd fire on me. The station guns never fired once. This happened several times before, without thinking, I returned fire. Poof, I was floating in space. Damn pods. As life goes by, I often consider the benefits of government-enforced sterilisation. |

Is everyone who had encountered this problem filing a proper exploit petition? It is important that it be submitted ASAP and by as many people as possible who have experienced it, so that the problem is treated as serious. Otherwise you bet griefers will be taking up this tactic, prolly many who have read this thread are experimenting right now trying to figure out how to reproduce this for their own gain... Remember, until it is formally declared by CCP and exploit, they can always claim it's a "legitimate tactic".

What a lot of people haven't yet realised is the gate and station guns have range limits. Chances are if you were fired upon in high sec space outside of that gun range the guns won't frag you.
As for concord not showing up if they shoot you, dunno about that one as I'd always read (and have personally seen) Concord DO pop people firing at ships in high sec space. Saw two idiots trying to take down an indy near a gate in Yulai and as soon as they opened up Concord made confetti out of them.

I was fired upon by some battleships drones in 0.9 space (i deserved it) and CONCORD did not appear.
I have heard that when having a high(ish) sec rating the cops won't come (i've heard when you have like a positive 3.0 or 3.5 rating). My mate was also shot down in 0.9 space with no CONCORD response.
An exploit possibly. However we did have negative sec ratings ourselves, but not even -1.0.

It depends on a few things.
The guns have range. Some griefers will open fire from long range upon you.
Also Concord take time to respond especially if there is something else happening in the system. ----- Janus "I'm not a stripper, I'm a miner." |

Okay, I had the same issue.
Was in a 0.9 sec system, got shot upon, got hit. No CONCORD, so I decided in all my greater wisdom and my special Moa to return fire and blow the little frigate that dared to scratch my paint job to kingdom come.
Next thing I know I needed more then just a paintjob for my Moa, I needed a whole new frame to fit around my newly acquired Pod.
Also: - Sentry guns have an effective range of 50 Km's or so and remember for 15 mins when you took shots at someone. - CONCORD also has an effective range before they react. I saw ppl taking out NPC indies when they came from a station and CONCORD was about 110 Km's away and they never came to see why the indies were vanishing from their radars. ---
