Have this bug.
Clear Cache didn't fix.
Seems to occur on deployable items only - modules and missiles aren't affected on my machine. But it also occurs with any item I can target in space - NPCs, ships, POS modules, cans, rocks... I get a black screen in the target window. (Oh, also affects BPOs and BPCs - making it impossible to differentiate.)
I'm running an older (antique?) GPU.

Just out of interested, I'm not able to see the ship preview on the character selection screen either.
Anyone else have this problem? Is it related?

More black icons today than yesterday (after clearing the cache) and less jumbled gargly-**** icons.
But invention is still near impossible.

I guess my fix only fixed the corrupt icons - the black icons were a separate issue. I believe we have a fix for that in the next update. Sorry for your troubles - we're doing all we can. |

Is there any possibility that this same bug is why I'm not seeing ship previews in the character selection screen? |

I'm also still getting corrupt icons, mainly in space in the "selected item" window, and on blueprints. Ships are now just all-black.
Interestingly enough if you look *Very* closely at the corrupted icons, some of them look like a texture map of some sort, either a light map or a an alpha mask or something that should be wrapped around the model.
Except for blueprints, everything that is corrupted is a "3d" item, deployable, ship, etc. Normal items (passengers, guns, modules, livestock, drugs, fuel, whatever) have working icons. Not a forum alt.-á |

Still getting this after clearing my cache, also re installing etc etc etc
It's really rather annoying as it has been going on since Odyssey (On the mac client)
Which caused me to install boot camp and run in Windows which seemed to fix it. But then now it's happening in Windows.
I have a Macbook Air (Mid 2011) Intel 3000 HD Graphics

Also having this problem. PC info is as follows:
OS: Windows 8 64-bit, x64-based processor Processor: AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core 3.10 GHz RAM: 12 GB Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7450, 512GB Driver Version: 12.105.8.0
The issue did not surface until I had installed the Rubicon expansion and was not equally present in my clients. The first client is managed through Steam and this problem was much more prevalent there, effecting all(or nearly all) ships, deployables, drones, structures, asteroids, LCOs and wrecks in both the show info screen, the selected item window and the "target" image. On my second client, downloaded direct from the CCP website, the issue was not nearly as bad until I had cleared the cache, at which point it became nearly identical to the client managed through Steam. The only difference between the two is that the Noctis, Nereus, Iteron Mark V and a few other ships as well as some wrecks are not affected on this second client. I have cleared the cache multiple times, run the repair tool, switched between graphics settings, switched between DX9 and DX11 and attempted a reinstall all of which had no effect on the problem.
There is also one more issue. Some times, though not always, the image that would normally appear in the small box actually flashes on the screen as though it was a fullscreen image. It's there for a fraction of a second and then gone, at which time the exclamation mark that is first present in the small image box disappears, replaced by a solid black box. OK, fingers crossed - there's another fix on the way in today's patch for the black icons. I'm still not sure if the corrupt icons and black icons are the same issue so we'll see how this goes. Please report back after today's update, and remember to clear the cache to ensure icons are regenerated. |
