How hard would it be CCP to make a kind of lien contract system.
Player/Corp A can place any of his collateralized item(s) on a lien contract in exchange for other items/isk that player/corp B is willing to temporarily offer.
The contract is initiated by either player but must be accepted by both. During the terms of the contract, anything that has a lien placed against it (is the collateral object(s)) cannot be removed from the station from which it was contracted (similar to an undelivered manufacturing job) and it cannot be placed in other contracts. It cannot be used. If the contract is repaid by the contracted deadline, the collateralized objects are then released for normal use. |

So what you're saying is that when I scam/steal a high value object, I needn't worry about actually selling it, but can instead dupe yet another person into loaning me too much money/other more expensive items for it?
Sounds legit. Let's get started. The tears will be delicious. Point Blank Alliance [DAKKA] is currently recruiting corporations to join in our lowsec piracy operations. For more information, please add the in game channel 'weflyrifters' or speak to a DAKKA member today. |

Sure, why not. However, I was wondering why we haven't tied security status/standings mechanics into the contract system? How difficult would it be to say, set a public contract but only allow it for people w/ x sec status or standings or higher?
Or we COULD also modify contracts to incur sec status/NPC corp standings penalties in the event that they fail. You could introduce a new broker relations skill that lets you increase the amount of maximum standings penalty you want to associate with your contract's failure.
The standing penalty could apply to either security status and/or the NPC broker's corp. The better your standings with the broker's corp the higher of a penalty you could pay the broker to incur.
Max Broker relations skill makes the Broker's Fee .3% of total isk value of contract. With max standings (10.0) with the broker's NPC corp you can incur a -10% standings penalty for a .3%*10=3% brokers fee, for a maximum total fee of 75 million isk. |

Because the point of loans is to allow someone else access to an asset they are otherwise unable to acquire, and so whatever you contract as a lien would by default be worth less than whatever you are loaning them, and therefore not an incentive to return it. And if it was more, than there would be no need to do it in the first place, because they could have just sold that asset in order to get the money to buy whatever it is you're loaning them outright. |

So basically you are asking for a game-enforced collateralized loan system, much as we have game-enforced collateralized courier contracts?
/signed. I would definitely play around with such a system and use it for all manner of scams.
"Want a 5b loan, paying 15% interest over one week, collateralized against 7b worth of officer mods" - except those officer mods are things I have manipulated the regional price of, margin scam style... and are actually only worth 750-900m... https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. An enemy is just a friend that you stab in the front. |

There are already many people willing to give collateralized loans, meaning there is no need to implement a game mechanic for doing so. A proud member of Wolfbane Hauler Inc. We are currently recruiting pilots of all skill levels. We need both industrial combat specialists.
