2 Strippers 1 Ore scanner 1 Mining upgrade, 1 CPU
5 Mining drohnes
And don't think of mine lower than 0.9 or without a tank...

Or drones for protection. Mid, shield booster, low cpu and perhaps armor repairer. ----

I used to use a named Target Painter in the midslot and a named small Armour Repairer and a Plate (200mm or 400mm, I can't remember). That setup, with semi-decent drones skills, could handle rats solo down to 0.6.

high: 2 strip miners medium: w/e i dont really use a roid scanner coz if i mine i like to strip the belt dry low: small repper (i use t2 coz i can) and a nano fiber (helps when youve mined everything in reach
5 light drones
with this i mine in .5 happily and sometimes if i feel like low sec mining ill switch the nano to a 200mm plate "Did you ever find bugs bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played a girl bunny?" |

high strip miners med cap recharger low named repper and cap relay
5 light drones
with good cap skills you can run the repper for ages and with the drones for defence 0.5 isnt a problem

Hmm, how come no one has mentioned a mining laser upgrade?

Except that without a roid scanner you could, at worst, waste 3 minutes worth of mining on both lasers to get a single unit of ore. And don't tell me it won't happen, I've done it before :p.

Edited by: Omak Topal on 27/02/2006 15:44:02 I've recently tried the mining laser upgrade. It must have been a bug or the thing just isn't worth having. It gave me 5 extra units of ore when mining, and not 5% like I thought it would give. If its supposed to be giving only 5 more ore units then in my opinion I find it useless. Cause it doubles the cpu needed for strip miners.
My setup:
High : 2 strip miners. med: small shield booster low: 1 cpu enhancer and one cap relay thingy i believe

I'm just about to try the Mining Laser Upgrade.
On the fitting it shows about 45 extra ore units per cycle when online as opposed to offline. Fitting it was a bit difficult due to the cpu penalty but should improve with skills. I doubt it is possible to fit 2.
I had to lose the shield booster to fit it and that is a bit worrying although rats have not been a problem so far. It does make me wonder how many I could fit on a Scythe/Miner II and what the comparison would then be with the Retriever.

Hmm, well, iirc, the description of the laser upgrade says 5%, but the details section shows 5 units more, which seems a complete waste of time and effort fitting it, considering. Anyone got info from the devs as to how this *should* work?
5% would be worth it?

With hammerheads instead of mining you could easily mine .5. I run 4 hammerheads now and have no problem with BPC drones in .5.

You can fit 4 Hammerheads into 25 m3?

How about ore per hour versus ice per hour starting with .9 scordite versus white glaze, then moving lower...
Does ore always beat ice? and by how much? |
