Hello friends,
I woke up yesterday just in time to hit the ground running on the new expansion. This was the first time I had ever done so, and this was really exciting for me! I got to join up with some friends and take part in some emergent game play. The content was so good that I was glued to my computer, logged in and actively involved for hours.
One crazy corp mate of mine was at it for 22 hours straight without a break! 
I know there is a lot of backlash from some people, because that's how MMO players are no matter what you do. But from the perspective of someone who has played for years, this is one of the best expansions yet.

This is also probably the first expansion i spent significant time right after deployment, specifically getting involved in new content. It was exciting. This expansion also heavily influences the metagame of areas of the game im interested in. I was into exploration pre-apocrypha, and I did enjoy the new scanning system, but I wasn't flying t3's or diving WHs for a long time after its release.
Some things were just nice surprises, like the new effects for anchored bubbles and the MWD spool up sound.

Rubicon is a pretty good expansion. It introduced a lot of things I really like, and only one or two things I do not think are fully ready; A much better ratio than a lot of other MMO expansions I've seen.

I didn't have (sadly!) much time to have fun with the new expansion but from what I've seen so far it's amazing. Looking forward to playing it more!
Is it Hotdrop O'Clock yet?

Me 3. Figuring out how I could use these god awful RHMLs in PVE has been entertaining at least lol.
And the Mobile Depot has changed EVERYTHING. I no longer need an alt scout to do lvl 5 missions or null sec lvl 4s, and can cloaky/nullified my way there, refit for mission, do mission, refit for travel and be done with it. Same with 10/10s (fit for gank in the 1st few rooms, take off prop mod i don't need and fit for more tank before going into the last.
Finally I can really really ninja plex without having to use black ops (which are sub par for pve).
1 man (with a girl avatar), 1 Loki (piloted by the man with the girl avatar) and the vastness of space lol.
Of course some people are honestly to dumb and biased to understand that CCP just handed "solo" players a boat-load of stuff to solo with. Most will continue to hide in high sec demanding CCP give them more solo content when it already exists.... |

Well my play style didn't benefit much from this expansion or any others in the past couple years but I did like some of the UI improvements I guess. So yes, perhaps this is the best expansion in years... My favorite part though is that it didn't inconvenience me in anyway. |

Have not had a chance to look at the shinies yet.
Been paid to shoot some POCO's and have been doing that since yesterday. I am tired of that now.

I will have to admit, the new user interface graphics make the game look more modern, but other than that I don't see any features that will affect me.
Hell, Odyssey had more impact on my gameplay (thanks for buffing ice mining income rates) than Rubicon.
Maybe I should buy a SoE ship or something to show off my space riches.

For myself and what i have read, being a new player im looking at Rubicon as a beginning and its a very good beginning but the journey seems to be more promising and,for me anyhow, its very exciting to be part of it |

You kids really need to look up the meaning of the word "Expansion".
CCP, trading shiny pictures for playability since 2003..
EvE, a cutting edge game. The only game to provide Matrix style gameplay for the masses! (trouble is, most people don't have 9 hours to waste on a one hour fight.) |

Some people have such a limited definition of Expansion:
There is some new content: Ghost Sites.
There are new ships: SOE Ships.
There are new conflict devices: Highsec POCOs, Syphons.
There are new player tools to utilize: Deployable Cyno Jammer, Depot, Bastion Mode
and there are major changes to mechanics: Warp changes, especially coupled with Interceptor Nullification, are revolutionizing small and medium gang activity.
To be frank, this game is very different now than before the expansion. This is a sandbox, where an expansion doesn't mean new dungeons or more levels. Here, the majority of quality content is player created, as such expansions focus on generating new tools and optimizing mechanics to generate that content. It is extraordinarily short sighted to shoe-horn these changes as a glorified patch.

First thing i thought looking at this approach was: null solo just got more viable, expect way more tourism where previously there was none.
Maybe i overestimated the hisec barnacles, seriously guise, this is your chance to spoil yourself! Few weeks of phat null treasures and you won't be able to stand empire no more.

I haven't been able to log on as EVE won;t install the rubicon updates. Lots of tears here. Going through uninstalling eve, redownloading everythign and trying again.
I know all teh pocos in a 20 jump radius will be taken |

Probably a bad investment anyway. If you bought them b4 the patch, you can probably make out better selling the mats. |
