Well... at least the Gallente Recon ships will be going from 'completely broken' to 'not-quite-as broken'

It could be very difficult to fix. The issue is because the cyno is considered a type of cloak, and you can't use 2 cloaks. Now i have no idea how deep the code is or the difficulty in changing this coding, which is what it'll take. I think if it was a simple dB change they would have done it already.

Heh, I've done it enough times myself at work to have some sympathy. You never know when your clever little trick you wrote on a Friday afternoon 6 months previously will come back and bite you on the ass

IIRC I fixed this sometime ago. I must have just forgotten to put it in the patch notes.
The cloak/cyno bug is a bit trickier to fix. The cynosural field bonuses are also kind of additional bonuses. That is the ships still have 2 racial ship bonuses and 2 recon ships bonuses the cyno is just additional stuff. Even without the cyno bonuses these are still pretty cool ships.
Having said that then we have an open defect about this and are trying to come up with a suitable solution to this. _______________ |

If it is proving hard to reprogram the cyno field to not count as a cloak, why not just allow ships to fit multiple cloaks? i mean it's not like you gain anything from it... since you could still allow people to not ACTIVATE two at the same time - see propulsion gear

it seems simple to us, just let 2 cloaks be fitted at the same time. sod the recloak timer

Allowing the fitting of 2 or more cloaks will basically make the recloak timer obsolete, as you simple activate the next one when you need. That is not good

I'm still at a loss as to what they hell they coded to make the servers think cyno generators are cloaks, as the only thing they have in common is that you can't target anything when either module is active.

What exactly is the problem with the cyno and cloak? I thought it was that your couldn't fit both at the same time.. ie either it doesn't go online or worse it doesn;t even go in teh slot. But the other day I fitted a cyno and a covert cloak on my Pilgrim and both activated. (green dot)
Not undocked with it fitted yet so maybe it's a check that happens then I dunno. Will check when I get back tonight.

This is terrible customer service,
The entire class has been broken from "day one"
Stop adding new content for a period of time and fix all the things that are broken beyong payable ...

you can online them both while docked, but when you undock you can't activate either of them, regardless of if either one or both are online.
The whole point of the force recon ships was thay they would be able to go deep into hostile space unseen (well, cloaked), find the target system, decloak, and then whip up a cyno field twice as fast as any other kind of ship could.
At the moment, they can't do any of that without having to refit when they get to the target system. If there's no NPC station or POS setup, they're useless.

Yeah. The ability to get within 3k of a target without being detected is useless. Totally.

A suggestion or 2, perhaps instead of a cloak effect, a 100% resist on all shield types while using it, no weapon usage, and a Ecm effect. Would be a way around it, and would be somewhat easier to code.

I meant useless as in their intended role (sneak in and jump dreads). If you want to use them as a 150m isk covert ops ship, then do so, but a covert ops ship will give you warp-in points far quicker than a recon.

Yes, but a Covert Ops ship can't destroy a Maller in ten seconds solo or put a Vigilant into deep armour in the same kind of timespan. I've played around in a Pilgrim in PvP and it's a seriously effective piece of solo hardware - more so than the Curse IMO, because you can pick and choose your engagements with impunity.
(Until you get accidentally decloaked at a gatecamp of course :P)

This is not a debt on how good or bad ships are, so kindly start you own thread ....
This is about a class of ships that were introduced into the game that have never worked ...
The Falcon (and all the other Force Recon Ships) have given up its effective firepower to be able to fit a Cynofield ... this is according to CCP
Its doesn't work, we know that, they know that, there is no debate here ....
PS if anyone loses a Cruiser to a Falcon with its 2 missile points ... you need to find a different role.
