I just roped a friend into starting up his EVE account again, but I'm sort of drawing a blank on what to recommend that he do mission-wise with ships. I'm using Amarr ships myself, but don't necessarily feel like they're the best possibility. I'm using them because I came back to a character with tons of skills in lasers and Amarr ships, he can go down whichever path he wants. So, what path is that, broadly?
Assuming he's starting at level 2 missions and wants to end up at level 4s in a Marauder some time (A lot of time) down the line, what's a good path? Is Caldari still the most consistent choice? Caracal -> Drake -> Raven -> RNI -> Golem in that case, or what?

All depends on the race he is but usually T3s aren't too bad a chose. If Gallente drone boats work well. I do SoE L4s, and you kill all the pirate factions for them . I use either a HAM Tengu, Cruise Golem or Rattlesnake with Cruise and sentry, medium and scout drones. They all 3 work great and fast. Laser boats are good because you aren't wasting ammo so you are getting 100% of the profit back in not having to buy more rounds, but against Blood raiders I say they won't be a good pick. Machs are great because of their falloff, but a lot of skills.
Well big thing is I need to know the players race and goals and we can go from there. |

Gal are probably the best at being good at anything you want to do, so you can't go wrong. |

He likes Caldari and Amarr ships, and his goal is pretty much just to do L4 missions. I'm trying to convince him to go to null and explore with me, do some small-ship PvP etc, but that's probably a while off. Even though a T3 would be a good compromise for the exploring, he's set on getting into a battleship. Probably going to be missioning in Amarr space, if that matters. |

I personally favor Amarr, especially the Amarr Battleships I do adore. |

If he likes Caldari and Amarr go Caldari, it's more flexible and you get better performance from an Amarr BS against non em-therm rats because of damage selectability. Most Caldari ships also have good tanks and missiles which are more forgiving than guns for those starting out.
I'd go Corax > Drake > Raven > RNI > Golem for the ship progression. Though theres another viable alternative which is focusing on medium missiles then upgrading to a Tengu for L4 missions, leaving out the BS group, Tengu is more flexible and less skill intensive, so you get more out of your training time. |

Depends on if he wants to **** around with target painters or not. TPs are a pain, I would probably honestly recommend missioning in amarr space and working up to a paladin. Paladin opens up into Nightmare with some side shield and caldari bship training for use in incursions. It used to be that I would recommend the minmatar route and working up to a machariel but with them announcing that it was due for a "rebalance" and that projection seemed to be a problem with it, I can't recommend it anymore. |

Oh yes, Who in their right mind would take an ishtar, thorax, vexor, navy vexor, myrm, domi or mega and pvp with it?
Or maybe you should get a little more experience then 9 kills before you start complaining....

2 options, work up to a raven or navy raven with faction guns then switch over to training for a paladin or go straight for the t2 pulse paladin. if he stays in amarr space then lasers will work great so it is viable to go maller/omen, harby, abbadon/apoc, navy apoc(i think), palladin |

Well if he plans to just do L4s, I'd tell him to go with Amarr, as their weapon system doesn't waste ammo, and crsytals rarely break, it's more cost efficient. Have him train up to first the Legion, make sure he has ALL subsystem skills to L5, then have him work up to a Paladin. Max out gunnery and laser skills, armor skills, and Marauder to L5, and make sure he does L4s against a pirate faction weak to EM and Therm and he will rock them. |

All suck but Domi, which is only good in groups. Mega rocked by Rohk, Ishtar rcked by ay other HAC, Thorax rocked by well pretty much any T1 cruiser, just keep range, vexor and navy vexor suck and ew. Myrm ok with back up, but what isn't. 2 any type cruisers will rock it and 4 AFs will rock it. You didn't even put the Gal ships that are really good in PvP, fail fail fail. |

Bastion as I am deployed and the net here blows, I am forced to stay and do SoE L4s, if you'd like to come join. In Osmon like usually. I do them in either my Tengu, Golem or Rattlesnake. I will kill you at some point but you are probably safe a till a get back. |

Please tell us which Gal ships are good in PvP.
I want to mix it up a bit and PvP with Gal ships. Some good PvP fits if you have as well.
