What setup do you think would be effective for suicide bombing haulers? Since you're going to lose the ship, lets try to keep it to a cruiser or any race with standard modules and low skills to fly. In fact if it could be done on a trail account then yatzee!

Raven with all launchers and sensor boosters
Alt with hauler and cargo scanner.
Passivly scan all haulers entering in and as soon as you find one with exclusive cargo (such as 40k zyd or t2 BPOs or whatever) just pop him with the raven, Concord will get the raven and your alt hauler will pick up the loot.

Ravens will not work, the sentry guns will actually shoot your missles/torps...
An Armageddon with all large smartbombs should do the trick, place the smartbombs in sequence so as to maximize their damage.

I wouldn't recomend smartbombs. It will prolly pop the pod and the loot. Try not to kill the pod as that will make your sec rating go down too quickly.

Are you sure? I haven't seen that happen since they removed the ability to acquire a target lock on missiles, and I've been using missiles near sentries quite a lot since then (not while flagged in 0.5+ though). _____________________________________ meep meep |

Yup you can test it with snow ball launchers

Do you think there's a way to do this in a cruiser? Maybe a caracal with heavy launchers and shield extenders?

I doubt it very much unless you arent at a gate or station coz sent guns would kill you damm fast in a cruiser.

Raven is perfect for this, sentery will not shoot your torps afaik. Smartbomb setup is is very stupid imo, if you planing on doing it more then once.

how about 2 caracals with heavies? The points is to spend as little as possible. 2 caracals = 2x the firepower, 2x the hitpoints, 2x survival time.

a caracal will only do about 750 a volley and you'll only get one volley with an unskilled pilet. an indy flown by a no skill pilot will have about 2k hp before resistances so you'll generally need at least 3 cruisers for it to have a chance to work. if the indy pilot has some skills and actually puts some defensive modules on his ship, you may need a good deal more. you should note that a torp raven does 3 times as much damage per missle and has one more missle slot plus 2 more turret slots. by itself, it is already over 4-5 caracels in attack power. add in missle skills, bs skills and more low slots and you have over 6 caracels in one.

Go with smartbombs, you're going to have a hard time torping an indy with a raven if it has some reists imo, and anyone who transports a t2 BPO in an indy deserves to lose it. I'd be transporting that thing in a 15k+ shieled ferox with a friend or 2 flying wing with remote shield boosters and shield boosting drones.

That comment makes no sense since snowball launchers won't make you flagged. It would be the equivalent of having the sentries shoot you for attacking npcs. Are you sure you've actually tried this? _____________________________________ meep meep |

Suicide bombers rules.
1. Cloak.
2. as many cruise launchers as possible.
3. as many dampeners as possible.
4. as many Low slot items you need to fit the above/incease speed/locking.
There, i just contributed nothing to your thread |

Geddon. Highs 8xnamed smarties (3xEM, 5xExp)
Rest for fittings (cpus) and tanks to buy time (1600mm, extenderds).
Have an alt (with a hauler or cargo cruiser + sensor boosters) to scan potential targets along the path.
Wait at the front of the gate, 10-30km away.. Smartie up when the ship lands on you, or warps past. Stop smarties after the kill to avoid podkills (smarties wont harm loot cans nor stargates). Laugh evilly at the concord. Have your alt to pick the lone T2 BPC from the can.

We used to do this often back in MF days around yulai The gang was 4xcaracals at least(maybe more dont remember), full loaded for dmg at least 2 ships with cargo scanners so u dont suicide on the wrong inty and another pilot in an inty to collect the loot was a good plan to get some money for the a pirate corp many times killed inty's with 10-15-40k of zyd.
Using anything but a cruiser for this job is stupid

Why, if I would get most of my money back from insurance on the Raven?

1. Don't forget about the cost of insurance - you will still lose lots of isk just on that 2. With a group of cruisers, costing a lot less than a battleship, you are also able to use a lot more warp disruptors and webbers 3. It's a lot more difficult to counter 25 missiles than it is to counter 6 missiles (although they will probably be so close to the target that it won't really matter that much anyway).
Provided that there is a group, of course. _____________________________________ meep meep |

Can a cargo scanner see the contents of a container in the cargo?
