after the two TQ/2 test runs everybody agreed that this was much fun. for /me testing the new shiny HAC without fear and trying some otherwise uncommon setups with different BSs was not only much fun but a good training thing.
after the tests i reflected a bit and got two - although blurred - ideas.
1st idea: is risk vs income relation wrong ? for most players PvP is a expensive thing. having to carebear a lot to replace an expensive ship is no fun and links directly to the bad "wait for (them to undock/engage|us to have enough manpower)" etc etc style of game we get so much these days (which is no fun most of the time either). the problem for most - except the real big&old ppl/corps/allys is the risk. not that anyone will be hurt physically - its isk after all - but to have to carebear to come back anew.
would that change if income would be (for example) trippled ? would we get more fights, less smack, more experience and more fun in the end ? is this possible without hurting the economy, drawing ppl away from industrial, crashing the market, destabilize the balance of power ?
some theoretics: giving (for example) 3 times the bounty, 3 times ore, 3 times worth of loot, 3 times production speed etc etc would increase the market activity much and/or ppl would spend less time with carebearing thus we would get us more pvp-fun but otherwise the economy would generally stay the same. big players in the power-game would still be bigger compared to others. sure, every boy and his dog will fly expensive ships/equipment more often but he will lose it, too. and he can only fly what he has skilled anyway.
2nd idea: why not go virtual-virtual ? i remembered the wing commander series where one could fly on a simulator - inside a simulation ;) lets say every station has sort of video-hall where we could play on a "virtual" EvE-in-EvE simulation ala the seeded testservers. it would be much fun and would allow extensive tests of fittings, ops etc etc. if there is nothing else to do or your buddys are not on you could go to that video-hall. every DT the simulation would be overwritten with actual data. the virtual EvE would be seeded (1 isk baseprice) and 0.0 everywhere. comms to "RE" (Real EvE) would exist so if your RE-buddy calls u would know it.
comment anyone ?
