Ok, forgive me for asking this noobish question, but I can't seem to find an explanation for it. Here's an excerpt...
"True to Gallente style the Celestis is especially deadly in close quarters combat due to its advanced targeting systems."
This is from the description of the Celestis, advanced targeting systems? I don't see what they're talking about really. Can anyone explain?
And while I'm at it, could someone direct me to a good explanation of Signature Radius and Resolution?
thanks

Dont read those descriptions, except for the bonusses you get.
its bull****, the apoc used to be "only those who high favor the emperor could earn the reward of flying the apocalypse class bs". while i could allready see everyone in my (old) corp fly with such a ship and mining with it. _________________________________________________

they need to update it...
instead of creating a new ship they tinker with the old ones...
it used to have like 5% hybrid damage and 5% tracking...
it was good with 200mm¦s and heavy missiles..
think tux is lazy for not making a new ships ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

3 Ion Blasters, 1 assault missile launcher, 4 Heavy drones and the ability to make any 1 target get close enough for you to use your guns if you play your cards right.
Its an underated ship. Its actually better than it looks on paper.

As with all Gallente ships at the moment the Celestis is a good mid range ship. (Some ships, like the Megathron, is even good at long range)
As a close range ship, few Gallente ships are good. Either too tight to get a great fitting or too slow. Also, when it comes to dampeners they give you two advantages: lock time and lock range. The first is a alpha-strike bonus and the second is actually a range bonus. You can either use them to keep their range or to force your opponent to get close to you, though the latter only works in theory since few pilots realize they need to get closer when dampened.

Could you elaborate on this? I've always liked the Celestis and would like to learn how to use it properly.

Speaking of odd ship descriptions, look at Domi. Not a word about drones but something about "Powerfull weapon batteries". Yea right. With 6 turret slots and no grid to fit a full rack of good guns with anything else the Domi has preobbly the second weakes "weapon batteries", rigth after the Scorp, which doesn't get any damage bonuses. Please CCP, change that part to somethign about drones. And remove the useless turret damage bonus in favour of a drone bonus

AFAIK it holds 4 medium drones, not 4 heavies.

A PvP Celestis in indeed under-rated, though its not a close range ship.
2 200m rails, 2 heavy launchers 1 sensor booster, 4 Sensor Dampers Cap power relays + 4 medium drones
Bascially, you can orbit any other cruiser, BC or BS at optimal range, damp them to hell, and they will be unable to lock onto you for the duration of the fight.
Its not great solo (because your target will just get frustrated and warp away) but its invaluable as part of a small gang. One of these can effectively disable 2BS's without so much as breaking a sweat. And unlike the Blackbird with its ECM jammers, sensor damping isnt chance based.
Great little ship.

Edited by: Justice Bringer on 25/02/2006 01:06:58 The Celestis has undergone two major changes in recent times. It used to have a tracking bonus for turrets and lost that for the Remote Sensor Dampner bonus along with a low slot going to a med slot.
Then the last change was RMR with a high slot being lost and a med slot being gained again.
In all the changes the description has never been changed, and I remeber when it had the tracking and damage bonus and it was truly awersome then...
Now it's just as good but up close and personal with 3 hard hitting turrets was great.
My current setup for my Cele is:
High 3 x Dual 150s/3 x 200s, heavy launcher Med: AB/Sensor Booster, 4 remote dampners Low: med repper, 800/400 plate, cap power relay Drones: 8 lights
It's a nice ship and I enjoy it just as much today as when i first got it over a year ago.
