Edited by: Denrace on 24/02/2006 14:06:44 Why aren't we allowed to remove implants and keep them?
I dont understand why they have to be destroyed once removed.
I have a lot of implants plugged in and am planning to move back into 0.0 space for PVP, but I want to remove and sell my implants, as I wont be needing them down there and dont want them wasted when I get podkilled.
I paid for them myself, so I dont understand why CCP wont let us just remove them and have them just go back into your "items" list.
What if someone has a set of +2's and wants to upgrade to +3's? Thats right, the old implants get destroyed in the process.
I think this isnt particularly fair at all, what do you guys think?

It's fine the way it is.
You knew you couldn't remove them when you plugged them in.

Of course I knew.
Just saying that its a bit harsh having them destroyed when you remove them. ________________________________________

They're a luxury item, always were.
If you didn't like the limitations, you shouldn't have bought and installed them. iirc, it gives you a big notice that these will be destroyed when you remove them.
I think they're fine as they are. And I'm someone who'd love to take out the +2 willpower implant to install the +4 I have in my hangar. I just know that's inviting bad luck to do it....

EVE is not the game for risk-free PvP, if you plugged them in, you have the chance of loosing them.
Simple as that.

The reasson you cant unplug implants is that the price of them would go crazy, because everyone would take them out before fights and never lose them, except to gross stupidity.
Also, it removes risk from PVP if you have them, and cant take them out. risk 4tw! -- bumcheekcity

Your name is not Hugh, and you cannot simply pop out your eyepiece so that Geordi can take a look at it.

If you could remove them then you could resell them and if you could resell them then you'd be unable to tell whether the implant you just bought had been plugged into someone else previously and that would be gross.

its economic, if you could remove them then they would only get destroyed when you got podded. the number of implants in the game would keep going up as people found them and did missions for them. The price would soon go down and they would be completely worthless. What you are asking is, why dont you give everyone +5 to all skills and remove money as a factor in the game.

Well, they're sort of all covered in your brain juices. Ewww. I wouldn't buy them after that.

yep as people said the jump clone makes it possible.
but in the past iirc you could actually unplg inplants, people where pluging them in, setting a long skill and unpluging them, shared around the corp and everyone was happy. but that was a very long time ago,

If no faction is nice enought to let you have a jump clone then go and PvP anyway. I lost a full set of +3 about a year ago and have never brought any new implants.
I never wanted to hesitate at the wrong time because of the cost of my implants. Since then I have been podkilled twice and its the same cost as losing a nice T1 cruiser rather than losing a flashy faction ship well worth the slightly slower training times.

I hate the idea of being able to remove them all, but maybe just make certain slots removable? And only with a skill? Cause I know my buddy wants to be able to change between mindlinks (when he can finally get his hand on some) depending on what the fleet he is boosting is comprised of. (You aren't going to want the shield mindlink for a bunch of armor tankers, or the info warfare mindlink for boosting a bunch of miners)
Jumpclones are a good alternative, but good grief it is tough to get the standings that high.
