What kind of whacky rules does this game have? A gang member had ice stolen from a jet can and I chased the little thieving monkey back to the station. I catch up to him and proceeded to attack him and low and behold Concord shows up and pods me.
So now Concord protects ore thieves from gang members in Empire space? Is this new? If so shouldn't we be told of silly changes like this and just allow the idiot to steal from us.

Also i don't think the kill rights spread in gangs if ur of a different corp to the guy that got the ice stolen.

It was less than 15 minutes, It was the right guy, because was bragging about it after I got podded, and he was not blinking red.
This is crap if people can steal from gangmates and they can't do anything to stop them. It is like the cops coming and shooting a person for trying to stop a thief from stealing. If this is a bug, ohh well.
If this is how the game is designed on purpose than the person that coded this is a retard, and needs to get robbed in real life. Then arrested if he tries to defend himself.

if it was the right guy, was guilty and inside the timer, he should have been flagged. maybe theres a bug.
however, shooting an unflagged player is not a good idea in high sec - and you should have expected what you got. i severely doubt that will get anything replaced, as he was unflagged, and you must have clicked through the crimewarning to fire at him

actually, as stupid as it sounds, this exact thing has happened to me too. Killrights dont come to gangmambers, only to corp members. and thieves can also steal the entire container ( for example a secure (not anchored) one) and if they do they wont give u killrights either. so if u shoot them, u will be concorded. its a stupid rule, and i have already petitioned it but they told me that those things are things we have to live with : /

not anchoring secure cans is asking for them to be nicked tbh

when i used to macro hunt, we moved the ore into a can belonging to a noobcorp member. having that removed flagged them to us

Edited by: Blaise Elcadan on 25/02/2006 00:14:01 No more defending your gang's cans... http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/patchnotes.asp Note:When loot is stolen, gang members of the victim of the theft used to have the thief criminal flagged towards them. This is no longer true. Only corporation members (if the victim is in a corporation) or the victim themselves get the thief criminal flagged towards them now.

I understood that to mean only cans that result from a ship death (loot cans) not any jet can.
I think it's a bug I've stolen ore since the patch and not got the yellow warning, and I think it's happened to others who have had their ore stolen not seeing any red flashy fun.

Well to add insult to injury, I took a -0.5 security penalty because I attacked a thief and got concorded.

I have tested this many times on 'farmers' there is something not working properly with the flagging system. In one gang with only members of the same corp one stacks the ore or moves it to another can to get flagged - this works randomly, now this is a cool farmer with a BS protecting the 24/7 op and this gang member attacks, now I assume the flagging system is supposed to give members of my gang (and corp) a 15 min flagging of the attacker ? But sadly every time i get a pod as a result of the BS attacking and a nice warning window for the gang memebers :(
Is there some 'trick' to make this work ?
Kind regards

The "trick" is to make the people that code the game do there job and not let loopholes in there coding get exploited.
The only way to get bugs liked this fixed is to make them public and force a fair fix. While the griefers and exploiters take full atvantage of it.

edit- just wanted to let everyone know it has been almost 8 hrs in game and there has been no response to my petition on this issue. I don't care if it is deal with it or is we are looking into this. It would be nice if they had some customer support.
Well theft is a part of the game, they change the mechanics, the thieves learn the mechanics, adapt new techniques, resume thieving.
Then carebears resume whining about the next 'exploit' ad nauseum.
You see how carebearism never ceases constant demands to nerf the game?
First they asked to be able to shoot thieves.
That didnt work so they start whining about the mechanics
Next they'll be like "Hey let's just have Concord shoot the ore thief as soon as he opens the can."
After that we'll have morons posting about "I opened my friends can and Concord killed me, I demand a refund."
It just never ends. The constant sense of entitlement never ends, eventually CCP is gonna have to hire a NANNY to keep the WoW crowd from stabbing itself in the eye with a plastic spork because the mechanics of its use weren't clear enough.

The only bug is if the CONCORD warning didn't appear before you opened fire. And unless you've turned it off (a bad idea) it should have appeared.
Never, ever click through that unless you are in low sec and far away from sentry guns (or able to tank them).

if it doesnt flash red dont shoot it - as simple as that in hig hsec there is a known bug something to do with NPC corp marking in certain circumstances which will be fixed with next weeks patch until then if its flashing red shoot it if not leave it.

Beeing half blind and hung over I failed to find the circumstances or any indication of the issue with NPC gangs and flagging beeing fixed in the blood patch notes like in :
Gang A same corp (non npc) stealing from mixed npc corp gang B and attacked by B but not beeing able to shoot back due to the aggression flag on B gang not spreading to all members of A after B attacks.
Any chace you could be more specific or link please
