There are a lot of corps out there that focus on all aspects of the game and get very powerful. I am a member of Everlasting Vendetta right now. They are very strong but very boring. I hate mining, as most fighters do. A lot of people are under the impression that you HAVE to mine to be successful. I mostly disagree with this. I did not buy eve to cut rocks 24/7 of my game time to get a battleship and loose it the next day cause I don't know how to use it. I have seen a group of six guys in a newbie university corp flying around in BS that told me they haven't cut a rock for their bs. They bought them from production corps at a good price with money they made from bounties and selling loot on the market. Sounds so much better than mining doesn't it?
My goal is to create a powerful military fleet that works together to develop their fighting skills to the max. I want to find all the good pirate spawns and farm the best loot. I want to build a team that can take out a fleet of ten newbie bs with a fleet of 6 bs or even a fleet of 10 cruisers. I know it can be done. I once saw a rifter (minmatar combat frigate) own a blackbird one on one (caldiri EW cruiser). I saw a frigate make a megathron run just today at EV headquarters.
I have a lot of great ideas for building an awesome team and I am willing to put in the effort required to build it. I need help from dedicated players that are willing to work with me. I want to have a hot debate both on this board and on the temp board I created for the team. I want to choose a time and place to meet with either our main characters or with newbie characters to chat. I want our group to hunt together and get to know each other before we even start the corporation. I haven't picked a name or officers, I want to leave that to group discussion. If you are interested, read the long post i made at the temp forum for the team

If they told you they got thier battleships be hunting pirates, they're feeding you a line. For the last 4 days I've been doing nothing but hunting pirates. And the money is okay, but not enough to get the millions you need to buy a battleship. At least, not in a fast and easy way. I mean, the money's out there in bounties. But, the ones that're worth alot, you're probably gonna get smeared in the process. If they're new players, and already have battleships, it's a pretty good bet they went to ebay and bought a few million credits to buy the ships and skills needed. So, I'm sure you can get those kinds of people who feel the need to do anything and everything they feel they have to (legal by the EULA or not) to get that battleship. The question is this...would you want them? As life goes by, I often consider the benefits of government-enforced sterilisation. |

Nice idea. Looks like our corp is.
N00bs in Battleships. Yes we know this. We did a small trip with 3 Blackbirds to Sanshas Nation. 7 Battleships with n00b commanders were after us. we had fun for hours.
I think this games needs really a Millitary corp. A corp with combat profed pilots.

Well, anyone can look like a noob atm since there is no way to warp to people.
You can have 50 battleships searching any system but if the guy is in a mid-spot, you cant do ****.

You mean sorta like what your Corp does now? "No I promise you can safely come to the gate now that you've paid me a toll, no m0o/sinister/ or RUS will touch you.." "BOOM"

I got my battleship solo, I could have done it in a newbie corp without noticing a difference. FYI, I made *more* money killing NPCs with my Moa than mining kernite with my Moa + a Thorax (total of 8 lasers, 4 drones).

I like the signiture on global setilization. lol.
They did get their ships by hunting pirates, i trust their honesty. Sure you can buy ships on ebay, but i don't disagree with ebay sells. a lot of people have to work a lot of hours to make a living. some people don't, and spend their free time playing eve. the people that have to work, and some have classes too, can free up a hundred or so pounds for a battleship. I say good for them, just because they don't have as much time to play the game doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to play on the same level with people that have all the free time in the world.
Joecartoon is funny. sinister, however, is not.
For those of you interested, please read the temp forum and post your opinions.

Edited by: Thufir Hawat on 04/09/2003 01:22:11 Edited by: Thufir Hawat on 04/09/2003 00:55:13 I got my battleship by hunting pirates, solo (and am about to get another the same way). I've mined exactly twice since I climbed into my Punisher frigate approximately two weeks after the game was released. Because I'm fairly antisocial, I don't play much with others, and have never made as much money in groups as I do alone.
It's not a line. Frankly, I don't see how you miners make as much money solo as hunters do. I can only conclude you hunt like geriatric herbivores, since the AI on the NPC pirates is idiotic at best and they all carry one single, pitiful gun. In any event, I'd quit doubting and start thinking -- it's really not all that hard. Or rather, don't, since the good hunting grounds near me are starting to fill up.
(Edited twice for typos and parentheticals, since I'm anal.)

Actually getting the isk up for the bs via npc hunting isn't all that hard, if you know what you're doing.
For instance, taking out one 30k npc with a respawn rate of 3 - 5 minutes and a kill time of roughly 2 minutes per spawn, you'll make roughly 250,000 isk in an hour. That's not including the loot they drop.
Pop in the occasional goodie from a cache container or 'forsaken' can in some of the more interesting areas in various systems and you can get a decent stash each time you hunt.
If you find some rares that are pricey, the payoff really starts to climb. Recycle the crap loot and you've got even more from the kills.
Keep in mind that's simply by taking out one npc pirate each time. If you take on a group of the brood the isk count obviously is gonna increase. About the only thing that slows me down is ammo needs and having to drop off the loot when my hold gets packed.

Set Scanner at max range 1 direction warp a bit Rinse Repeat If you had that many ships put 1 at each station and gate and do the above with the other main fleet

The Blackbird pilot needs a slap, prolly never fought in a pvp situation and panicked or wasnt properly equipped. Theres no way in hell a half decent BB pilot would get owned by a rifter.. hell a BB can shut down a battleship so I find it hard to believe the BB pilot had a brain.

My point was that it has been done. Wether the blackbird was equiped for pvp or panicked does not matter. The rifter pilot jammed him and orbited him at very close range, and won. I know most of the time this would not be the case, so most people in rifters would never dare attack. This one did, and it payed off.

Well, i think what we need is organised hunting parties for players who are in corps, and dont want to leave.
maybe getting groups of cruisers/battleships even frigates together will be fun, and i think ppl will be interested in doing this.
I recommend starting a chat channel.
I will deff be up for this, and it could be real fun.

I like that idea. prehaps a pirate hunting coalition with strict rules and team policies. not a coalition in the same form as say, stain allience, fountian allience, or any of those other alliences. it would be for pirate hunting endeavors and present a opportunity to farm out good loot to players and make large amounts of money on spawns. It could also allow a market for ships and mods within the coalition.
