Maybe this has been asked, and I've just missed it.
I'm running eve on my laptop and it's running great most of the time....
If I use an ethernet cable to the internal nic, everything run's great, no problems...
If I use my wireless adapter, it runs for about 5-10 minutes and then kicks me out with a lost connection to server....
The settings are the same, port forwarding and what-not for both, have even tried enabling dmz and still no luck.
It's a linksys router bfw11s4 I think, the wireless card is a orinoco gold....
any ideas what I need to do? or does eve just not like the wireless?

also, just to let you know, I'm sitting 15 feet from the router, so distance shouldn't be a problem. :)

Make sure that your Router Firmware is up-to-date, as it will save you problems in other programs as well, and also decrease lag. Also, make sure that your drivers are the newest available for your wireless card. However, I do honestly believe that the problem is probably being caused by the Firmware. If you have already updated your Firmware, you may want to do a hard reset on your router, and try again.

also, found out tonight that star wars galaxies plays fine on wireless with no disconnects....
so, now I'm really confused. :)

I had a linksys wireless router crap out on me after about two years of use. I replaced it with the newer version and I had the exact same problem as you mentioned. I never could get it to work properly. I think there is something not right with the newer Linksys models or maybe we both just got bad ones.

Edited by: cs0amc on 04/09/2003 15:14:01 I get same problem with Warcraft3 - I'm starting to think wireless connections have high latency... I'm using a Belkin 11Mbps link and it shows "excellent" signal strength. I've not got Eve to play on my laptop yet, but hoped this connectivity problem wouldnt occur when I finally do..

I have had the same problems on Windows XP with encryption. I'm not quite sure why I used to discon for no reason, but it stopped doing it when I configured XP to recognize it was part of a wire/wireless network. As far as I know, Eve works fine on wireless.
The router is most likely to blame as the wireless card itself is always operating and even ethernet direct connects have there connection dropped or stalled occasionally on not so good routers. Also, since reseting the router usually fixes the problem for me, it targets the router as the cause.
Not knowing much about routers, I can't say much, but my experience with internet connects are usually router problems and possibly 1% of the time, ISP problems.
Just make sure most of your router settings are defaults or setup a relatively open connection without different firewalls.

You may want to try disbaling the Plug n play feature in the router. DX9 did have issues with this and Im not sure if its fixed now.
