I have multipule acconts with eve. That being said i oviously like the game enough to pay for more than just the basic 1 account. Latly though i have been having probelms, this memory leak requires me to restart my eve clients every 90 minutes or freeze my computer up. And now i just lost a tempest due to.... LAG. I was in a warp into a deadspace area and aparently when i lag out my guy does not. It would take a while (5 mins +) for my tanked tempest to die, and yet when i get back into the game. im sitting im my pod. I have petitioned eve but i could not do so form game or from this site i had to email them. Adding to my flustration that the petition system times out. (this is not my connection as i dont lose connection to other realms on the internet, while eve is lagging out)
How do i fix the memory leak? how do i get them to fix it? i am getting very flustrated. please help.

you can't fix the memory leak except possibly by installing a memory manager and asking it to release unused memory every so often which is what players used to do a while back. They won't be fixing the memory leaks in the next patch (blood) according to the dev blog, just run the windows task manager in the back ground and reboot a client when its getting too close to your physical memory limit. Had one pilot who was lagged to death and asked him to check the windows task manager, seems it was using about 750 mb and he only had 512mB Frankly I think that releasing patches with leaks in is a disgrace. Recommended memory for this game should be listed as as much as your motherboard will hold

Are you using an ATI card? There has been some talk about there being a problem with ATI's control panel and EVE.
I have an nVidia card, myself, and I can leave EVE running all day and it never eats more than 250 megs of ram. Normally its down near 200. |

I was leaking last night and I have an nvidia.
Not to mention it would be pretty improbable that video cards or their drivers would cause leaks.
I do think the quantity of leaking may have something to do with how many systems you're jumping. Just a wild guess, though.

I also have an nVidia gfx, I run 2 accounts and I also never have memory leak problems.
Except once. Monday night before the server upgrade, I joined in the test run of the new hardware. After having been in a big FFA at Oursulaert I (warping out and back occasionally), also got hit by major lag and then CTD'd. Checking the Task Manager after, I could see that it had been using a lot more memory than usual. But my other account logged into TQ at the same time was unaffected.
Not really sure what my point is or if I have one, but those are my experiences.
Best Regards,
Vala D.

Lots of things cause strange activity with memory leaks. There's a similar problem with the latest version of Firefox. Some people can't browse for more than half an hour, without it occupying a gig of memory space, while others can go all day. Some of it is program usage, some of it is hardware and software layout.
In the end, though, it's still a leak and needs to be fixed. That program is specifically the one causing the problem and if multiple people are getting it chances are it's ultimately a programming problem.

I have the memory leak problem the same as many others and what I do is pretty simple but really shouldnt be needed.
Leave task manager running so you can watch it and I minimize anytime EvE breaks 250mb used. I have a gig and a half of RAM and still anything over 250 puts me right near the NV4 error that is plagueing many NVidia owners.
The NV4 error is something that Nvidia doesnt seem to be working on (I cant believe that they dont know about it) and the leak error in Eve NEEDS to be fixed.
YMMV

My client just locks up, when I check task manager it's using around 30mb ram. Then the usage slowly climbs back up to 90mb and when it's back to the normal usage my client unfreezes.
It's driving me nuts. I already lost a harpy because of this.

Here: MEMORY LEAK
and here: DEATH LAG
A lot of players, including me, are suffering from these issues, and the only thing the CCP support can do is redirect us to some of the forum threads where other players try to help us. It's not 10 or even 100 people, but really a lot. Every day one new thread about memory leak and other about LAG (not the internet normal one).
CCP must do something about this because it's dam frustating playing this (I agree too) nice game. One day we will complain no more, we will give up... There is nothing more we can do.
This IMHO. Thanks.

And I will say more!
Or CCP fix these issues or must change the "recommended" to:
Processor: P4 3GHz+ RAM Memory: 2GB or higher 3D Accelerator: 256MB or higher video card Internet connection: 2,2MB or higher
And then, I'm out.
Thanks.

As many other I experience the same lag/leak problem. I have 1 GB memory but after more than 1 hour play, I have to reboot the client, because my memory is full.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usually when a program has a memory leak it affects a large portion of the player base. This does not seem to do so, witch leads me to believe it might not be a memory leak but a hardware or software issue.
Saying you need massive system specs is just not true. Im currently playing on a 2ghz 64bit laptop with 1 gig of ram and a Radeon 200x 128 meg card. A standard Cable connection for my area and I play fine, my other 4 pcs in my house play fine, everyone in my corp etc...
While Im not saying you guys arent having a problem and that its not frustrating... I think there might be some conflict somewhere, opposed to a mem leak

Hello all,
I've had memory problems in the past, but I installed a free program by Analog X (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/maxmem.htm) that runs in the background and frees up that memory. Ever since - no problems.
