Ok, a quick disclamer before the question. 1. I know there isnt a best. Im actually asking favorites. 2. Im not new, Im just a mega carebear.
That out of the way, Ive been around for >a year now and am a compltely antisocial carebear, so i need an alt for hauling purposes. Id like a hauler up and running in under a week. That being said which indi ship is the best for hauling without months of training needed? I was looking at the bestower or iteron. Ive owned an iteron ages ago before the ORE's came out as a miner but wasnt very impressed. Thoughts?

True, but the itty 5 also requires indi 5 skill.. which takes a while to train up to.

You can make an amarr hauler alt and have ~10k cargo on a bestower with about a day of training i think. ------------------------

You have lots of options.
* a BS with a MWD and 8 expanders or 4 nanofibers/4 expanders... This can get u about 2000m3 and has all the protection of a bs... If it's an alt, you can also stuff it full of mining drones, spare mining crystals to jetcan, or something line 8 tractor beams for looting L4 missions! With that set up, you just cruise the bs into the mission, and suck up cans like mad.
* Gallente has the exchequor cargo cruiser... If you want combat hauling cheap, get one of these with expanders to accompany you on a mission... As a side benefit, you are also getting a thorax alt, etc...
* As the other poster said, the mammoth is probably best for you if you just want a hauler pure and simple...
* Lastly getting any Industrial 5 will let you step into blockade runners... They will have 3000-4000m3 and can equip a MWD...
If you're a true carebear and stock up on ISK like mad, you might just want to buy an alt with all the learning done for 300-400 million. It will prob come hauler ready too and then you can customize it. |

Haha, I may be the mega-carebear but i wouldent ever stoop so low as to purchase an account. The work may already be done but usually the work IS the game :P Buying an account with 1billion isk defeats the point for me.

You can't buy accounts as that violates EULA, but you can buy an alt and have it transfered to your account...
The idea is this... If you are taking 2 months away from your main to make a hauler alt, then you have to ask this?
"Couldn't I just had played my main and dedicated the millions of ISK from that month to buying an alt anyway?"
"Do I really want to stop training my main and lose 2 million skillpoints while I train an alt?"
In other words, if someone said to you, "Here are 2 million skill points for 300 million ISK--will you buy them?" I would say YES.
However, next week the new bloodlines are in, so if you really want to start a new alt, then Wednesday is the time to do it?" |

well looking at making a dedicated miner and tried out a few things...
minmatar can start at creation with spacechip command 3 and firgates 4 cutting out a good large chunk of your training.

There is a way to make yourself a Uber hauling alt, without resorting to buying one.
Simply startup a second account, and train the new character the way you want. You can have a frieghter/transport/I-5 character trained up with around 5 mil SP investment.
Once you get the character to the skill levels you desire you can transfer the character to your main account, and there you have it, a fully trained hauler.
It is of course more logical to keep the hauler on the second account though. As you can run both at the same time. So no logging out, and logging in to pick up cans, or to move things around.

you claim to be a mega carebear? How can you be one without having a second or third account ? |

For low skill requirements you can't beat the the Amarr industrials. With Amarr Industrial 1 and you get:
Bestower: can fit at least 2 giant cans and has 4 low slots. Sigil: Can fit 1 can, has 5 lows slots and with nanos can go over 800m/s and it turns and aligns better then a cruiser.

Hmmm... for within a weeks training you can start a minmatar char with frig lvl 4. He'll then train the hauling skill in a matter of minutes.
