We need one to keep track of the politics and other goings-on in this forum.
Let me propose this:
Lets emulate the headline ticker thing that runs on the bottom of the screen for major TV news networks. Everyone submits ONE neutrally-worded sentence that summarizes a news thing going on.
For example: "After a failed diplomatic summit over TS, Alliance X declared war on Alliance Z for the incident in system Y" or "Corp A was attacked in system # by a squadron of Sniper Tempests from Corp B"
Neutrality is a must! That means we should avoid things like:
"Char X totally ruined Alliance A's chance to make peace with Alliance B because he's a retard and #%*hole" "Leetcorp just ganked CorpX in blah system LOL!"
and no headline wars...
"ALLIANCE @ IS GONNA DIE ONCE AND FOR ALL" "NO WAI! THEY'LL LIVE FOREVER"
We can make an archive of headlines later on, so we can better keep track of EVE history.

Actually this could work.
CCP once had big plans for player controlled news where the news agency could make isk for their services. Basically, you could subscribe to various news services and you would get a ticker with their headlines.
If you wanted neutrality, you pay for a good one. If it lacks neutrality, you change news service. I'm sure there would be plenty of people willing to write news. CLS-FLEET-ASCN

Good job, man. Best place ever.
Anyway, subscribed in-game news services were a feature, way back. Now, you can do it through mailing lists.
A ticker isn't a bad idea. It could either post player-submitted feedback, or the lowest/highest prices of items you have in your quickbars in that region/solarsystem/station. ---

Thing is, the news system we have now is okay but fundamentally flawed since it has a monopoly on delivering ingame news. There is no such thing as a free press in EVE, and I think we'd see a more diverse and interesting news system if there were ingame support for newsfeeds that people could subscribe to. It's basically another possible career in EVE, and I think it would make news delays (ie the time between an event happening and it being covered in the news) much smaller than it is today- which can be a major problem atm. -----

Hmm this would be great tbh.. perhaps, CCP controled RSS feed or somthing? bulk up the existing aurora dept, with a few more news reporters for this type of thing, from every alliance?
Would love to be able to wake up in the morning, synch my palm with some website that has a bunch of alliance news stories, ready for reading on the way to work..
