Hi All , just a quick note, I have some people who think I have lost my mind. I have been in Eve for alittle over 2 weeks and was doing the trial thing, which I have already bought the game ( Yes I am addicted) Anyway my first character was a test bed for the game, trying a few things you know flying all the differnt ships, learning the interface ect ect, well I decided I would make a new main and do it right using what I learned in the guides and talking to people. When I told my friends they think I should not do it because of all the lost time,My question is has anybody else remade or made a new charcter, and basically wrote the first charcter as a learning tool ? Thanks for the time and have a great day.

i started a new main character like your talking about 1.5 weeks into eve and it hasnt slowed my new main down at all. i would have seriously regretted putting any more time into the first character.
i didnt know what attributes i wanted highest when i first started, your base attributes are the most important, the skills can all be bought in game.

I did exactly the same.
I fiddled around with Eve for two or three weeks with a couple of different characters, found out how stuff works, and then I created my main.
I haven't regretted it for an instant.

Now you know what you want to do, losing 2 weeks of training time won't harm your progress at all. Designing a new character whose attributes are (hopefully) better than those of your first character will, if anything, speed things up. As an extra bonus, you can concentrate on getting things like your portrait and name just as you want them.
You're not mad at all. Go for it.

I don't really see a benefit to making a new character considering there are no skill camps of any kind. The only thing I can think of is starting attributes, if for example you want to be a star fighter but the stats you have for your current character are more mining focused.. but even that really doesn't make much sense since you can raise the attributes with learning skills.
I don't think your nuts, but I don't see any advantage to a new character.... unless you really hate your portrait or something lol

That is one of the best names I have seen in this game Brilliant.
I have 18 mill SP's and been playing for longer than is healthy, but I started a new character a few weeks ago just because I want to try a few things out, and explore new aspects of the game. Re-rolling is nothing new or anything to be argued over. Your talking good sense. Besides, Two weeks in this game is such a tiny amount of time. Good luck to you

tbh i think if u have the feeling u will be a career player in this game, starting a new char can easily be done in the first month or so, atleast then u won't have started anything important.
I knew a guy who was playing for 2 months and had 4 +3 imps in his head then decided to start over again... now thats a pain hehe.

There's nothing wrong with starting over again. Skill points really aren't everything so just keep making fresh attempts until you're happy with the character you have.
A mate of mine has been playing eve longer than I have (nearly 2 years now for me) and he seems to start a fresh char every few months and still has plenty of fun in the game.

If you plan to be playing for over a year, 2 weeks is nothing. Hell a month is nothing to get the character and stats you wanted. __________________ Retard's handbook |

Edited by: Raynaar on 27/02/2006 12:18:14 Edited by: Raynaar on 27/02/2006 12:17:12 I also did exactly that. Started out with a Caldari main. Played and trained him for 2, maybe 2 and a half weeks. Then, I realised the folly of my ways, biomassed that sorry arsed Caldari SOB and started again with a new character born of the only race in Eve created in the true image of God Himself.

P.S. And yes, I agree. Emily Spankratchet definately gets my vote for cool name of the week.

Go for it. Two weeks is nothing, you'll be much better off and much happier in the long run.

I started new char after about week once i learned how attributes work on skill gaining. In case you didn't know you can start char with over 100k skill points that will save you some time.

For example amarr, after you have selected your attributes and you need to select school. Select Imperial Academy (just select the military school for any other race too), Operations, Command, Captain Training and you end up with your frigate skill 4. Just remember upgrade your clone since basic clone wount be enough to keep that sp.
