Looking at Miner II you have miner output of 60 and duration/cycle time of 60 secs. The Modulated deep core miner II got miner output of 120 and duration/cycle time of 180 sec (3mins)
does the miner II have a output of 60 m3 a minute? and the modulated deep core miner II a output of 120/3=40 m3 a minute..or is the output per minute (120a min) but the cycle is 3 mins? giving 120*3=360 every 3 mins for the modulated deep core miner II?
Im using Miner II now, but is looking for ways to improve my output, and wonder if the deep core miner II is the way to go. I know there are Miner laser upgrades and improvements thru skills.

Deep Core Modulated is good under the following two conditions:
- You're mining mercoxit with a mercoxit crystal - You fit a mining crystal for the ore you're mining
The modulated uses crystals. It pulls 120m3/3 min without a crystal, but (120+120)m3/3min with the right crystal.
Per minute, the modulated with the right crystal pulls 80, whereas the minerII pulls 50. ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

Very good. Thanks for the swift reply! Appriciate it.
I see that mining crystals detoriate after "extended use".
At what rate? Do they gradually drop in mining performace, or do they work at max output until they finally just break down instantly to zero output?

tech 1 mining crystals don't break. Tech 2 will last about 6 hours before completely dissapearing (theres no reduction in mining amount in between).

OMG, 2 sets of misleading data in as many posts. Correction time.
1) Modulated lasers use mining crystals.
Without a fitted crystal, or mining an ore other than that of the fitted crystal, the yield will be 40m3/min subject to skills. With a fitted crystal this is multiplied by the crystal's value of 1.625(T1) or 1.75(T2). So a MDCM2 with T1 crystal mines 65/min plus skills, and with a T2 crystal 70/min (8.3%/16.7% improved yield for T1/T2 crystals over Miner II, the same ratios apply to Strip Miner I and Modulated Strip Miner II.) The Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II lags behind, it is useful only for mining Mercoxit using the bonus from a Skiff Exhumer.
2) All mining crystals degrade over time. T2 crystals degrade at 4x the rate of T1, such that you will lose one every few hours at least if running 8xMDCM2 on an Apoc. T1 laser crystals don't degrade (T2 and faction do). -- Originally by: Drayce Between the learning skills and the tutorial, Eve is like a firewall against the attention deficit kids.

Thanks for the replies!
I have a request, and its prolly alot of hassle to be asked of ya.
I just got an apoc, and im currently using Miner II's on it.
Could i be so bold as to ask if someone could show me how much i could expect for max yied per minute(without implants) with 8 Miner IIs and 8 Modulated Deep core II?
Taking into account skills and mining laser upgrade. If possible, the forumlar/actual math shown for future refrence.
I know im asking for much but it would help to see the math all written out, to easily understand and predict in the future.

Btw: im not mining Mercoxit at this time...im in 0.4 space at the moment (new player) so mostly im mining kernite and Jaspet. I will use crystals with the modulated deepcore II...or are the Miner II more effective when mining for common ore like Jas and Kern? Even if i use jas and kern crystals?
Modulated Deep Core Miner II requires Mining V and Astrogeology V (for Deep Core Mining).
120/cycle base.
Base*(Mining Skill)*(Astrogeology Skill)*(Crystal Bonus)
Miner 2 - 60*1.25*1.25 = 93.75/min/laser = 750/min. With a mining laser upgrade this would rise to 787.5.
MDCM2 - 120*1.25*1.25*crystal (T1 1.625, T2 1.75) MDCM2/T1 - 120*1.25*1.25*1.625 = 304.6875/3min/laser = 101.5625/min/laser = 812.5/min. MDCM2/T2 - 120*1.25*1.25*1.75 = 328.125/3min/laser = 109.375/min/laser = 875/min.
These values are 8.333...% and 16.666...% better than the Miner II respectively.
With one MLU, 853.125 and 918.75/min.
As for you last question, a MDCM2 will always mine more than a Miner 2, if used on the same ore as its equiped crystal, otherwise it mines at 2/3 the rate (the same applies if no crystal is fitted). -- Originally by: Drayce Between the learning skills and the tutorial, Eve is like a firewall against the attention deficit kids.

Thanks alot Stephen!
I have a second character, a Minmatar, and Im going to let him mine as well since the corp severly lacks miners which in turn hurts production.
Looking that the number of turrets available on the minmatar ships it makes me think i either need to add amarr skills to him making him fly an apoc, OR train for Barge/Exhumer (eventually).
Then the question is, how much can a Corvetor (best barge) mine per minute (m3/min) taking into account equipment fitted and skills (not implants).

Wrong. Tech 1 crystals break after about 24 hours.

t1 crystal burn out as i have burnt out and 20 so far the life time is a lot more the the t2 crystals but as i am a part time miner i cant be sure on the time to burn out on t1's

As a minmatar, aim for a Scythe, with max skills it has the equivalent of 6 lasers
Scythe mines slightly less than a retriever with strip 1s
7 laser ship like a Brutix mines about the same as a retriever
8 laser ship like an Apoc just outmines a retriever.
I'd personally just get a scythe and max Min cruiser skill then train up for a Barge.
