Backstory: I am grinding Gallente L2 missions for standing repair (on another account).
After a particularly bad streak of unwanted missions for a Creodron agent (whose name will be left aside because I don't want him to have his revenge on me for screwing his integrity), I looked for another place where L2 agents would reside, in the hope they're less of a-holes than this particular individual.
I found Villore, where Federal intelligence has three L2 agents in the same station. it was a dream... ...turned into a nightmare (not the ship!) when the first agent offered 2 faction missions in a row, the second offered two faction missions in a row and the third... well, the third was nicer.
This amounts to no less than 8 faction missions in a row. Given the fact that I am doing these missions to repair my standing with Gallente (and indirectly Minmatar) and not to destroy my standings with Caldari and Amarr, I'd like to know whether I was just extremely unlucky or the % of faction missions out of total went up (a lot!) since around 2010, when I last played EVE Online.
Note: i don't mind doing a faction mission every now and then, but really... not all the time! |

Interbus missions are great for repping standings. |

question:
Do you feel better since you're done with complaining about RNG on forums now?
It's bad luck.. the same bad luck that strucked me recently with offering 10 pirate invasions (which i don't mind doing, but don't like) in a Row of 15 missions. |

First off, I didn't complain, I asked a question. In a more elaborate way, of course, because I'm talkative :) And I didn't write that to feel better or anything, I'm cold, man, oh-so-cold :)
I'll give those agents another try later tonight, see what would they have in store for me this time. |

oh well, looked a lot like a complain, and the last RNG-strucked-me-complain I've seen on forums was.. anyway...
Do you have another char at hands? You could use multiple characters to decline more missions in total :) |

I have used those same agents on more than one occasion with great success.. maybe you had a bad run, ,and of course now you have angered the mission gods and will have to sacrifice your favorite mission ship at the sun for the curse to be lifted.. The Interbus is great for not affecting your standings due to them being positive with all the main Empire Factions.. That's why they don't have any storyline agents. Not sure why they don't have an LP Store.

To Shiva Darksun,
Getting a lot of Anti-Empire encounter missions from Gallente Federation is no surprise. In my experiences, the Gallente Federation offers a lot more Anti-Empire encounter missions compared to any of the other Empire Factions.
Since you're trying to repair negative Faction standings, check out 'The Plan'. It will quickly and easily repair negative Faction standings.

Sorry if it sounded that way. I must emphasise on this: I don't steer away from doing the odd faction mission, not at all. I only feel a bit pushed towards a direction I dislike when I'm prompted with 6+ faction missions in a row, where 3 of them are multistage.
I do have another character (this one, as a matter of fact) but it's a newbie which is aimed at exploration; this and I don't multibox.

i know that plan, but I am lazy :) and as a matter of fact my standings aren't that bad. 0.60 with gallente at the moment (with diplomacy 4) and -0.9 with Minmatar. My goal is to have at least +2 (unbonused) standing with all factions, and then I'll do a COSMOS run for all factions, hopefully covering all levels. The lowsec COSMOS agents are a bit worrying, with me being a carebear who utterly sucks at PvP, but hey... a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. |

Again a friendly FYI that sisters of eve offer large galente standings and can be run in the safety of familiar space. they also dont completely tank your current standings.

Then you must also know that completing the Data Center Agents doesn't incorporate any combat. Basically just trade Tags for Faction standing increase. I'm sure you also know that those missions can be completed very quickly as well.
Anyway, good luck to you.

Actually, I have the feeling missions don-¦t entirely rely on RNG concerning Faction vs. Pirate security missions at least. Except for a very short period right at the start, I have consequently declined anti-Faction missions. Now I very rarely get those offered and I don-¦t recall ever getting two in a row.
So, I do believe the game "remembers" preferences and I guess it just might be possible that the game "remembers" your preferences as well, OP, only in your case it-¦s anti-Faction missions.
If this theory is true, then there is little to do but keep declining anti-Faction missions and accepting anti-Pirate missions till your new preferences set in. Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20.

Yes. I do. And I appreciate you trying to help me, I really do. There's one caveat to what you're saying: In order to trade tags, one has to collect them. I don't even look in the wrecks, I merely go there, blitz the mission and go back. In most cases, looting all wrecks would likely double my mission time, therefore I don't do it because it's more effective to do another mission during the same time.
Well, maybe it's time for me to get a MTU and pile up those wrecks, loot them easier. Hmm, I might just as well go do that. |

You can buy them in the market. Most of the pirate tags required for the data center missions are cheap. Some others are expensive but you can ignore them if you don't want to spend 200 mill in tags for 2,0087% faction standing or whatever. |

Exactly, I agree 100% and have been saying close to the same thing for years now. I believe that goes hand in hand with the Agent standing. Then of course there's the player's Faction standings to take into account which I think also helps influence the mission offers.
