While checking the options in the offers to join corporations, I noticed that you can actually be payed by a corp to do whatever. Just come to my mind if there is or ever existed some corp that actually pays to have "that pvp inty pilot" or "that fleet commander" ?
Dont know ... some very wealthy character commited to hire and support a corp of "the best of the best" or a "all star team" ...
And no I'm not pretending ... I'm just wondering if that ever existed or exists in EVE and what was/is the name of that corp

Directors in CLS used to be paid a long time ago as they were very busy people and didn't get much of a chance to make money the normal way. Most of them never took the payments though preferring it be put back in the corp.
We still pay our PvP'ers bounties for every kill they get but that is outside the payment mechanic you are talking about.
We also paid a few mOo members to join and help train CLS pilots when mOo split. It reformed shortly after though and most of the pilots returned. They also returned the money they were paid as well.
I would guess none of these happened using the payment facility you are talking about though. I've never even seen it!

I havent heard about this kind of corp besides the sort of dealings Weebear mentioned. But I believe with the addition of formal contracts you will be able to put up missions and limit them to corp members, non-corp members, public etc; adding whatever payment you wish (ship, item, cold hard cash, etc).
I havent changed corps for a very long time so not sure about the options, afaik there is none but I'll go log on and prove my self wrong
