Have been exchanging fire from 35km away for 5 minutes. My shield booster is nicely holding my shields at 90%.
Suddenly all the shots they make go straight to my armor. Shield is not affected. 2... 5.. 8.. etc. at least 10 times. I have lost all armor and warp out.
Now. The nice ppl at help channel tell me this happened because NPC got a wrecking hit on me or sth. 10 times in a row when they didnt get any before? And i am looking at my log right now. In the last 3 minutes of the combat, only 1 wrecking hit worth 180 damage points is hit on me. But my armor is over 2800. Obviously there is more to it than just this 1 hit?
Now what I am asking is if anyone else has witnesed this or has an explanation for me as to what happened. Since I am also the victim of the nVidia Nforce2 chipset capacitor bug (see http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=298545 ) I wonder if it is possible that the shield uses a similar way for calculating its strength as the capacitor does and therefore my graphics just do not update my shield's real status.
Please comment someone. I really dont know if I dare to fly out there with both capacitor and shields always showing me 90% when in fact i am at 5% of both.

Same shield and capacitor problem here. Tryed Clockmon, disabled that "Spread Spectrum" at BIOS. Still out of luck.

I have posted some more settings for ClockMon that appear to have solved the issue for me. Check back in that thread for more info. ___________________________________________________ "I'm an engineer, not a miracle worker!" - Scotty, Star Trek: The Original Series |

Thank you for your replies. I have used clockmon but i had set it to 50ms not 5, so i will give that a try.
My problems with shields have been now confirmed with a test I did with my friend. I had him shoot me up while I kept taking screenshots of my ship's status. I have posted some of these screenshots at this address: http://alphard.pri.ee/eve/
As you can see I am getting hit to armor constantly although there are no consecutive wrecking hits and my shields are still at 65%. What is even more interesting though is the fact that in the gang window below the overview my shield and armor show probably 'correct' stats. This means that the client DOES recieve correct information about shields.. just does not show it everywhere correctly, or more likely that the ship stats are reported twice - once for my main window and once for every gang member, including myself again. But if I DO get the correct information anyways, wouldnt it be possible to fix the incorrect display in the main window also without any load increase on the server side?
Anyways it seems to me from the final shot that the problem is not limited to shields but all the stats. The armor stats when comparing the main window and the gang window are also slightly off. So switching from shield to armor tank is probably also off the table.
There is a quite high possibility that in my case the problem is also partly caused by my internet connection as I have a quite high packetloss which I cannot help. If that is the case, too bad for me but I still have to wonder about that information in the gang window - is there really no way to just link it to the main shield indicator?
