I'm relatively new to the game, and I'm sure this has been brought up before, but ... well, it still bugs me. 
I speak of the turret graphics. They seem ... too similar. They look nice and detailed, and there's certainly a place for a variety of machine-gun-looking objects. And I realize that any turret-graphic has to be able to rotate 180 degrees. But there have to be more options than just different barrel lengths and widths!
What about just raised nubs that fire out lasers (a la star trek phasers)
Or tripod-looking devices tipped with a crystal from which light shoots out of?
Or tank-head like half-orbs (make 'em more polygonal for the Minmatar ones) with a cannon that can spin 180 and a the cannon can raise to 90? (which would allow it to point at any object)
Or pincers with a glowing orb in the middle?
I suppose lasers have a lot more options than projectile weapons, but these are all off the top of my head. I mean, okay, it's all eye-candy, but it wouldn't hurt. :) It's an absolutely beautiful game, just could use a little more variety.

Agreed. Also, we need some kind of graphic for missile launchers. The crow has some things that look like them built into the texture, but thats pretty much it. As it is now, missiles seem to magically appear from the center of your ship.

agreed to the max
when i first got my condor (2nd frig i ever bought) and fitted the missile launchers, i closed the iftting window to find nothing changed except for the little gun on the wings.

signed. i hate seeing a pea shooter on a battleship, they should have massive f**k-off style cannons that are the size of frigates.
