Do ABs have any advantage over MWDs? It seems the MWD gives you much more speed - though at the expense of a hit to max cap - but otherwise functions the same.
That is all.

Lower fitting requirements, less cap use, no penalties and they can be used in Deadspace complexes (MWD can't).

Edited by: MellaRinn on 28/02/2006 02:37:00 Signature radious bonus on MWD makes a frig bigger than a cruiser for locking/hitting purposes...

MWD gives you a big penalty to your signature radius too.
That makes you easier to hit.

Just wait until we get capital level MWD's imagine the siggy boost on those. Fire in the opposit direction and you could still hit it.

I fly an interceptor alot and I NEVER use a MWD. I always use an afterburner. That way my sig radius stays low and I can still do 2000m/s and orbit the target at 1500m/s. I also run it full time with all guns blazing and never drop below 65% cap. The penaltys of the sig rad on MWDS is to big IMO.

MWD's don't work in Deadspace zones either.

MWD for grocery getting, AB for fighting. however if you are chasing my Raven feel free to fire up that MWD, my cruise missles and target painter will love you short time!

I fly a raptor and a crow and why the hell would you want an interceptor as big as a cruiser. A MWD completely takes a crap on the interceptors purpose. I can go almost as fast in an AB and I can run it full time w/ guns or damage rockets.

In my opinion, I mostly use MWD's for travelling and AB's for combat, but with some ships MWD's are completely essential - Thoraxes and Brutixes rely on them. - - - - - Yarr? |

From a technical standpoint, the faster your base speed, the more advantageous the MWD's speed boost is, and the less meaningfull the signature penalty is. So an Inty is pretty much ideal, even before their signature bonus.
MWDs do rely on using good tactics though, and the cap penalty, cap use, and fitting are definitely serious tradeoffs.

No you can't. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
