Yeah im back after 1 year and 9 months without eve, and the world seems to have changed a bit..
I never was a "brilliant" eve-player at the days i were active, but as i remember the lvl 2 mission werent to hard in my Rupture. My tactic in thoose days were to warp in at 40~range, kept the distance and nuked enemy to death with heavy missiles.
Yesterday i did my first lvl2 mission and it was a total failure. Now i dont remember the name of the mission but it was 4 rats and 1 boss i warp in there and got too close than i wanted to be, so i turn on my AB and switch directions while launching missiles at the nearest rat. At the time when i had almost killed the first enemy my shield was gone, my armour was gone and it was bye bye for me.
I lost 1 ship and had to escape the other times.
To make things easy for you, can you yust help me with what equipment and weapons i should use on my rupture to make it doable. Feel free to post any other tactics etc too.

a rupture should handle lvl 2's even with not so great skills, it can handle any lvl 3 if the pilot knows what he is doing.
Since it's been so long for you, missiles have had an update, namely the damage they do depends on target's speed and size(signature radius), the bigger the missile the less damage it will do the smaller the target, generally. I think this is where you missed the ball .
Well a basic fit(maybe should go to ships & modules) i'd suggest is something like: highs: 4 220mm vulcan, 2 assault launchers. mids: Afterburner, web(or cap recharger), cap recharger. lows: medium armor repairer(as good as you can get), 3 hardeners(to npc type, eg. angels explosive/kinetic) and a cap relay(or a gyrostabilizer). Basic tactics I suggest is with web, web your target and use keep at range( don't orbit, that will mess with your hit chance of the turrets too much) Don't forget full drone bay(4 mediums)
An alternate way to do lvl 2 more easily is get a caracal, shield tank it and fit assault launchers, light missiles should take care of frigs easily enough. ------------------------------------------ The ammatar are not the enemy, they are the smoke and mirrors of the amarr. |

What you are missing is the fact that missions now go into "deadspace"
This means your warp in is usually 15 km unless you set standard warp to at 40 km. Missiles also have been nerfed. A torp does 25 dmg on a frig instead of 600 as it used to be. Fitting wise its not hard but keep in mind some changes that has gone through the last 2 years. . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

Sorry, another n00b question here, but how do I do that? I'd love to warp into deadspace at something other than 15km.
Thanks.

right click a planet and select "warp to =>" Below that you have an option to set default.
This should work. If not than you might wanna use the warp to can method. Warp, Jetison can, bookmark can, warp out. Warp to can at your disired range.

You don't even have to drop a can to create a BM. Just use the People & Places icon, flip to the 'Places' tab. On the bottom edge of the window there's an 'Add Bookmark' button. Click it then 'OK' voila instant BM and no fine for can littering ;) "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it." |

There's also some fairly new tanking skills to consider, for instance to boost resistances.
Oh and watch out: Some lvl 2 missions can be fairly dangerous now. They're supposed to be a challenge. Search these forums for the new (since Red Moon Rising) multi-part mission series "The Uprising" to get an idea of what can happen if you run out of time - although this particular one may have been scaled down a bit.

That only works for non-deadspace missions. Deadspace, you drop out of warp within 2.5km of the beacon. How far away the beacon is from the rats varies by mission. But I've yet to see the "Warp To Within:" setting have any affect in deadspace. This includes deadspace missions that don't have an initial accel gate.

I've done level 2 missions for several factions in a Stabber (a few months ago), and never had a problem with it. My loadout:
High 4 220mm autos (substitute dual 180's if you can't fit the 220's), best you can get 2 heavy launchers (substitute assault launchers if you can't fit the heavies) Mid 10mn AB Webber Large shield extender, best you can get - this is important Low 3 gyros, best you can get
You end up with a ship that goes about 1 km/s, has a decent passive shield tank, and does a lot of damage. For the most part, you just barrel around webbing and blasting your targets while your shield buffer takes the damage. I remember there being some missions where I had to wait a few minutes between stages to get the shield buffer to recharge, but most of them you just roll over.
Vote Shin, for great cocktail hours. |
