One example (i'll not speak about the fury rock joke, a sig radius of cruiser and a whooping 45% penalty on capacitor means that you can't even run and afterburner with them): kestrel, with 4 javelin thorn, the new base speed is 72ms. with good skills, and an afterburner, you can go at 200ms.
Long range rockets are meant to attack, err long range (eg 15-20km). The main advantage of frigates are there capacity to move fast, to go at the wanted range. Rockets are antifrigates weapons.
So what's the real purpose of javelin rocket?
Long range anti frigate? You can't, others frigates are faster than you, they will reach you faster and then engage you at the range they want.
Long range anti cruiser? You can't, at 15km you're in the low optimal of cruisers (rails with antimatters, for example), and be certainly dead before you can say "hello!"
Long range anti battleship? 4 rockets launchers can destroy a BS???? And same problem as the cruisers: orbiting at long range means your chance to be hit with guns is bigger.

same goes for the t2 light missiles, dunno what they thought when they made those..
o the other half the heavy and bigger t2 missiles are great, but thats another discussion.

M8 all T2 ammo needs to be loocked at... some T2 ammo is oMFG Thats uber and some is OMFG im never going to use that pile of crap...
Example
Quake Ammo + 4 Guns on Wolf= 144m/s top spweed with about 300ish with an afterburner
Tremor Ammo +4 Guns on Wolf= .... No drawback.... higher dmg than EM ammo.. with 100 % range bonus... no cap penalty... no speed penalty.. etc etc
im fine with the penalties its the fact that they stack with no penalties that i cant stand

i beg to differ i had a crow hitting me with some t2 missiles on my wolf smacking me for 80 a hit on my shields where my resists are like like 90% em 70% explosive 40% kinetic and 60% thermal... so useless i say no painful i say yes

t2 small missiles r a joke...with unreal speed penalty or cap penalty they rnt very usefull on itny's (slow inty=dead inty) but i find precision missiles usefull on a cerberus or raven... when speed isnt very important...

T2 rockets/light missiles are practically useless.
T2 heavy/cruise are ridiculously overpowered.
I don't know how this situation ever got by the QA department at CCP....

I think the QA is not for gameplay Quality Assurance. I think their job is ironing the bugs out, not balancing the game (this should be the job of the game designer).
Anyway, we need Tuxford or TomB. They can't let the ammo at this state. Some members of the community brought suffisant proofs that something is wrong with the T2 ammo. It seems that they only thought about their uses on BSs tbh. that would explain why missle ammo is good for BS and not good for much else and why rail ammo (high damage) only works for gallente and is broke for Caldari etc etc.
I think Tux is the man here... he seems to be the more inclined of the devs to a more active dialogue with the community (no offense to the others I am sure they are too busy doing other stuff) and this is hat is needed here...

It looks to me that any whi... err posters here fly solo or only shoot at frigs. All tec 2 ammo types are nice if they are used in the right situation.

Yeah some t2 ammo(most) are crap !!! But my god spike ammo rocks Im hitting with my harpy from 90km for full dmg with 150 rails i talking about 80+++ dmg all the time and ihave AF skill to lv3 Harpy is the UBEREST OF THE UBER

T2 amo is crap of uber, yes.
It's utterly ridiculous and needs removing until a deacent soloution - secondary effects = can be put into place. Faction amo does more damage, allready! (and add faction missiles)

Change topic to "T2 ammo needs to be looked at?".
And the answer is "Yes, it does."
Maybe when they add the new damage type T2 ammos, they'll look at the existing ones too.

This might explain something I found the other day when testing a wolf against a corp mate using Quake...
Problem was though with the tremor when I got into web range I started missing a lot
