Topic says it all. This can't be all that hard to fix (afaik all that needs to be done is redesginate the cyno field as something other than a cloaking device, like a new module class) ..... yet it was overlooked for the patch and isn't found in the patch notes.

In coding, nothing is easy to fix...
Making a module a different class might give it problems with other modules. It is now a problem with cloaking. Would you prefer it gives a problem with tank or guns?

Making it a new module class which also has the invulnerability effect of a cloaking device would seem to solve it. The devs dont want 2 cloaking devices to be useable so people cant come in and out of cloak repeatedly in a short time frame.
In any case, its not the ease of the fixing this that upsets me .... its that it appears to have been entirely overlooked when it was a very well known and well established bug since the last patch.

ofc it wont be fixed New content is MUCH more important than old broken content. I mean who cares Force Recons suck, whe like, we have new races 
Fix the damn recons. Yes, im well aware its not an easy fix. But im also aware that its CCPs fault for taking a shortcut in the first place. Which came back to bite them in teh a$$.

Seriously, this has been bug-reported even before the ships was released.... Fix it already!

there has alerady been a few posts about this in this channel and in others. i don't think there is need to start another topic about the same issue.
back to the point, as Mephysto said, there is no easy fix for this.

Heh. There is an easy fix, and it's to remove one of the bonuses from the Recon ships ;)
Seriously though. People are standing up and shouting that this problem has existed since RMR test server. This is wrong. The problem has existed since Cold War when they first introduced Cyno fields. You've never been able to mount a cyno field and a cloak at the same time, and this was the case before the Recons were ever mentioned, and quite possibly before they were thought of. Given that this is a fundamental problem with the way the code is set up, the options right now are a) deal with the fact that you can't use your extra bonus in conjunction with one of the normal bonuses (just to emphasise this point, as they stand Force Recons have six bonuses, but you can only use a maximum of five at once), or b) have one of the bonuses removed. b) looks pretty much bass-ackwards to me, so a) is the obvious answer.

That answer is not to introduce broken content in the first place.
If they put it in the game knowing it is broken they have done a great diservice to the community, and are paying us a further disrespect by ignoring the problem.

It's not broken. The ship just has two specialist roles which it can't fill both of at the same time :P
In any case, they're not ignoring it - they've already commented on the problem elsewhere.

Don't be a disingenuous *******.
The response from the devs was ONE sentence. "Its hard to fix, sorry".
There has been no explanation, no progress report, no eta on the fix. They gave us broken ships and then are telling us to screw off and deal with it.

Two posts, and CCP is rightly not in the habit of posting detailed explanations, progress reports or etas because these things are hard to judge and if they don't deliver on their own estimates then they get castigated. In any case, the ship is not broken - it works fine. It's just that two of the modules which it has bonuses for can't be fitted at the same time. I take your point that it's annoying, but you're overblowing the problem.

Hardly. How the hell did that ever make it through QA ? Did they not even try to use the ship with the modules that it gets bonuses for? That and the fact that this was apparantly reported before it was released makes it totally inexcusable.

Of course they knew the problem existed. It's just that there is no easy fix. The choice was, presumably, between letting Recon ships do one or the other but not both, or just removing the Cyno bonus altogether. Personally I'd rather have that extra bonus there as an option.

Yes. A setup with a cloak and field isn't going to be concerned with tank or guns.
