I would like to see a first person mode added to the game. It would be neat to be inside the ship looking out while i fly around.

You don't look out from the ship, the pilot of the ship is in a pod filled with goo. ----------------------------------------------- My Band's new Demo: Linkage to Torrent |

Your view in game is provided by camera drones according to teh game background info. Whats to stop you from having docking cameras mounted on/in the ships hull to provide conventional view points ie front/back/left/right/up/down. This is the ideas forums not "idiots one liner forum" think beofre you speak pls.

But why? The fp view is very limiting. it's not like you can maneuver it any good for looking out the front. ----------------------------------------------- My Band's new Demo: Linkage to Torrent |

ITs an MMORPG, not an FPS or sim game.
Thats why.

I still can't see any use to it, except it's another angle PoV from the ship. ----------------------------------------------- My Band's new Demo: Linkage to Torrent |

Any kind of first person functionality allows you to manipulate game elements directly through your client. The server would need to constantly update this data from all the clients before it could decide what the consiquence are and report that back to the clients. EVE was designed so that there is no direct control through the client. You can tell (ask) the server what paturn of bahavior you want your ship to perfrom by clicking buttons in the hud but, the client can only imitate what's happening on the server. That may be why it takes time to turn things on and off- the client must wait for the changes to happen on the server.
What they could do is enhance existing controls. For example, I would like to be able to specify the "plain" of orbit around a target. In it's simplest form, I could orbit in the x, y or z plane. But, a more useful device would be to adjust the angle of an actual plain of orbit in the tactical overlay using my mouse.
One thing is for sure, double clicking empty space by mistake can be a pain. I have to click empty space to look around when I'm mining. If I double click by mistake, my ship will go sailing off into dead space. They don't need to get rid of this feature but, I think it should also require a key press to seperate it more from camera control.

Stop finding excuses for the Devs please. They can handle answers to interesting proposal themselves pretty well.
But i bet 100k ISk that the proposal of FPS-view is not regarded as interesting, hence there wont be a reply, and it wont be changed.
