Edited by: Josephine on 04/09/2003 21:58:54 Since it seems we are once more without any decent newscorp in the game for one reason or other I decided that I should give it a try. Thus News Inc. is born. The goal, provide news for the people, hardball style. I believe that the reason no news corp seems to survive lies within their way of working so far. News are made by people and told by people. This leads to the problem that there is always a human factor involved. One can try to minimize its importance but that doesn't help as it will still remain there. Out of this belief I decided upon the following format and rules for News Inc. and its reporting.
1. News will be reported unedited. No news item will be written, shortened, altered or posted only in part. 2. News will be posted as chatlogs. If the reporter writes an article it can never be guaranteed that it contains anything more than his own opinion and view on things. By just posting chatlogs, which are complete News Inc. gives the responsibility of deciding how to interpret news to the reader. 3. Reporters work as freelancers. The reporters are not part of News Inc. as News Inc. only employs one fulltime employee, Josephine. 4. A full list of affiliated freelancers is available and listed. Anyone may deliver news under the News Inc. flag assuming they are accepted as an affiliated freelancer. 5. Affiliated freelancers accept said rules and act accordingly. Anyone may become an reporter, however they and the work they do must follow these rules in order to preserve the integrity of News Inc. 6. News Inc. can remove any freelancer from the list of affiliated freelancers if said person breaks the rules. 7. News Inc. does no editorials. We will never post any editorials or views of News Inc. as an entity, chatlogs with interviewed people only. IF a reporter states an opinion said opinion is his(the reporters) and should be treated as such. 8. News Inc. financials are open. News Inc. will keep all financials open to the public in order to counter possible accusations of payouts. This will be done in form of images listing the financial activities for each timeperiod between said financial anouncements. 9. Freelancers are payed in %ages. At the end of each fiscal period(1st of a month.) the accumulated ISK of News Inc. is used to pay the freelancers. The available ISK is divided according to following rules : - 20% are put into reserves for next month. - 80% are used to pay reporters for the period in question. - Each posted news interview following the News Inc. format is worth one point. - Due to management tasks and out of game time spent the editor(Josephine) recieves 5 points. - The 80% of the money are divided according to the points that freelancers made that month. 10. News posts will be posted on these forums. The Intergalactic Summit forum of the eve-online.com website is the place where news posts are to be posted. 11. News item naming shall follow standards. Each newsitem shall start with "News Inc. :" followed by the name of the person being interviewed aswell as their corp Ticker symbol in brackets. eg. : News Inc. : Josephine(NWS) 12. News items will contain the following information. - Reporter name and corp affiliation - Interviewee and corp affiliation - Starting date for the interview
If you would like to be interviewed, become a freelancer or inform us of an event we should be aware of you can either evemail me or email me at [email protected]. Applicants should provide their corp affiliation and acknoledge that they have understood the rules stated here. Everyone is obviously welcome to donate towards the cause of free and clean news, there is right now no other way to make money through news, just send donations to josephine(or the corp if that is possible), here finally a link to the current funds aswell as the list of money used to create the corp. A big thanks to those who so far have donated and made the starting of this intresting approach to news possible.

As people can undoubtedly see from the starting money image the game for some reason creates 2 items for the corp creation into the journal, furthermore I am currently not able to send ingame messages to people, nor to initiate interviews as there is a 100 isk cost for each such event with people who aren't adressboard people. One could say even 31 isk would be most welcome right now.

I do think prophet arames handles PR for tti.
As for you, would you like to become the first person interviewed by News Inc? (You'd have to send the 31 isk so I can interview you first though...)

I doubt my actions in-game so far warrant an interview... it's been a while since I was engaged in "earth shattering" events (formation of Fountain alliance through civil war). Once that changes I'll be happy to take questions.
I have however donated 10031 ISK for your interview costs in the future. Happy reporting.

Would you believe it took longer to find someone to interview than it took to gather the money to start the corp?
And for the record, I have no idea who killmark is.
As for the actual reason of this post, obviously it is to celebrate the first of hopefully many successful interviews by News Inc. For those who can't seem to find the intergalactic summit, there is a link to it right here : http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=30127
