its been +6 months since since any of the devs have said a word about this..
they said that they would try to fix the assault ligth-missile launchers...
have they done this ? no... not even a SoonTM
if they released assault missiles the SAC and Caracal and maybe the moa would see more combat...
and if you dont know what im talking about...
assault missiles would be either mini-torp or big-rocket for cruisers... ____________________________________________________________

Light missiles fired from assault launchers are not good enough for you?
I would have to agree with you, they should deal splash damage, just like torps used to do in the old days.

And Lasers should sometimes go bonkers and start attacking Concord...and Hybrids could backfire and implode the ship...and Projectiles could sometimes track good

Really, what's wrong with firing light missiles out of assault launcher? You get RoF bonus over std. launcher. Is it still too small to splatter frigs and inties?

I think the confusion here is a the poor choice of the word assault. I think what the OP is getting at is that missile cruisers only have 1 weapon system whereas every other ship in the game has 2, 1 long range, 1 short.
What he's advocating is either a short range more powerful heavy missile or one with longer range and less power.

Whiile it would be nice to get cruise "rockets".
I would really hate to lose assult launchers shooting light missiles.

Assault launchers have less DPS on the intended target (frigs) than rocket launchers and same dps on larger targets as rocket launchers.
light ion blaster same dps as heavy ion blaster
light pulse same as heavy pulse
(check naughty boys diagrams)
After I saw the graphs I have thrown away all my assault launchers incl teh arbies (and no you cant have my stuff )

Look closer...
Small - Short : Rockets Long : Light Missiles
Med - Short (and anti frigate, something alot of cruisers cant do well) : Assaults Long (and extremely high damage) : Heavy Missiles
Large - Short : Torps Long : Cruise missiles.
Now tell me there arent long + short varients...

yes the range variation is all there but the dps on the assualts is crap. What they are saying is it should be a higher dps to go with the short range. Which is fair tbh.

After a bit of playing with the missile guide: Not if you're shooting at Kessie (47 sig radius)... And rockets do 0 DPS on things 10-20 km out (depending on skills).
Had CCP increased RoF on tech 1 assault launcher from 12 to 7.3 (and scale others accordingly), it would do same DPS as rockets even on a Rifter (30 sig radius). It would still suck on lower sig thingies (inties), though. Another, more uniform boost would bo to give assault launchers a bonus to guided missiles precision.
Or you could just mount a target painter and train guided missile precision.
