Hi all, Is using a Micro-jumpdrive to travel to stations/planets/asteroid belts/gates 1.0+ Astronomical Units away a viable method/tactic over warping to destination? I was curious because the MJD jumps your ship 100km in the direction the ship is pointed so 1000km would be 10 jumps,10,000km would be 100 jumps and 100,000km would be 1000 jumps. |

....I... what?
How do you not realize that you answered your own question?
It's obviously not even remotely in the same ballpark as "Viable". |

1 jump, 3 minutes cooldown. 1000 jumps, 3000 minutes of cooldown. ill stick with warping I wear my goggles at night.

if you wanna think about flying out into the unknown use a cap stable 100mn cruiser or t3 bc they can go pretty damn fast |

A loki with links/drugs/implants etc does between 8 and 9k m/s cap stable, which works out to ~1530km per 3mins. |

Since you seem to like doing math...
1AU = ~150,000,000 km
So do the math, genius. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"
Never forget. |

o.O
If you use MJD alot, i guess you can already see the differents. Nisroc Angels - The Obsidian Front Nisroc - Angel of Freedom Nisroc is known as "The Great Eagle".

If you started using an MJD on the day Eve was launched (although they weren't in game then) you would have traveled 1.21 AU today, allowing for an average downtime of 30mins. This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main. |

A fast ship could warp across eve in under a week, provided it had the capacitor to do so. This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main. |

Using some rough measurements made years ago about the size of the EVE Galaxy (which is a tiny 122 Light Years in diameter), current Interceptor speeds (8 AU/sec) it would take about 11 days to cross the EVE Galaxy. This is assuming a single, long Warp jump. Warping in smaller increments would slow it down a fair bit, but still an easily-traversable distance.
Using a Leopard would trim that down to about 4.5 days.
I wonder if they'll ever introduce the ability to traverse between systems without Stargates? With fast-warp ships, that's certainly a viable option these days. With the ability to place Player-Owned Stargates in the works, maybe this is less of a pipe dream? My (WIP) Roleplaying Profile: http://tinyurl.com/nfazlch |

Considering we have many ships that can jump between systems without stargates I'd say the former is a given.
Both titans and POS can create jump bridges, which are essentially Player-Owned Stargates we pretty much have the later in all but name.
Because jumping is a sever operation that moves you between 2 systems it isn't actually possible to fly to another solar system in the game mechanics as at some point you have to be disconnected from your system and moved to another. This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main. |

A inty may have gone ~20Au in that time.
Given the velocities that were available in the MWD stacking days I'd say if you always flew the fastest ship available and could have new ships brought to you by an alt you could probably have traversed 80 Au by now.
I remember pictures of a friends Silver Magnate with an oversized mwd doing c. 65,000 m/s in the nano days. Fastest New Eden sub warp flight iirc. |
