i have been playing this game for some time, and in that span of three years i have grown to love this game and its people. i seen many post on marco miners and thier hurting the game. i did not pay much attention to it till last week.
Was mining in my normal place talking to those who come and go. got to talking to a player that has played for as long as i have. as we talked he said he was worried about the game since marco miners dump billion of isk on sites out thier each day. i was thinking a addcit of the game till he told me that this game is a big part of his life. he cant walk and has trouble getting around and this game gives him somthing to do and contact with hundreads of people. so he moved on and as i mined i though how lucky i was and how a simple game like this can mean life to some.
So i went and found some of the marcos not hard to find realy they are all over. reported them and reported them and reported them. its not ccp falt thier is so few GMs and so many marcos. so as of today i will go after them myself i will report them as i always do then do all i can within the game mecanic rules to make thier life hell. as is said for evil to win all that is needed is for good men to do nothing......
if i am wrong so be it some things need doing no matter the cost...

Macros are easy to spot and ban. Sweatshop farmers running multiple accounts for the sole purpose of selling ISK are almost impossible to pin down. __________________ Retard's handbook |

Edited by: Eternal Fury on 01/03/2006 19:46:31 I'm the exact opposit of you. I've only been in Eve a few weeks. Can we put a bounty on the Macro Miners? Or is it only people who've been flagged agressive against you?
Other option is get the community to put together a Anti-Macrominer day each week. First week of the month it's Monday. Second week of the month it's Tuesday. 3rd Week of the month it's Wednesday.. and so on. Try to get as many people as possible out looking at miners, questioning them, watching their patterns and so on. Make it a corp event each week. Or if your corp/Alliance is large enough, just pick a day randomly each week to do this.
maybe if every Macro Miner had a day each week where they just could NOT farm, it might help.

I'd also like to point out that in the patch notes for the patch tomorrow - "GM tools for detecting and banning macro'ers and other evildoers have been added and improved."
It's under the misc. section...I liked seeing this =P

Hey i got an idea ( mmm so thats what it feels like )
Find the macro, report him. Then get you buddies together go out with some trit in you cargo hold. Jetison small amounts all round the F&*%er make, your circle of cans small enought that he cant warp yet large enough to stop a hauler getting close enough to get the mins. Then again i suppose you would have to use secure containers.
That would lock down the macro wouldnt it? Not sure if its legal but, why shouldnt we be allowed to help stop this problem

Your friend will find a game to play, whether its Eve or not.
We all love it, and we all gnash our teeth at the insidious evil that is isk selling, that sucks the good vibes out of a game and turns it into a commercial virtual reality.
But realistically, companies can't do much about it, because the trade buys their accounts and pays for gametime, so its extra revenue.
And also I got to thinking. Some of my friends have multiple accounts and mine with all of them, whats the difference between that and macro-miners?
Some people have sex for fun, some people have sex for money, and I'm sure most of the time its a little of both, like Anna Nicole Smith marrying that old guy, of course she had sex for money, thats basically all marriage, its just trading sex and companionship for a %50 cut of what the spouse makes, of course theres real love involved.
I'm sure even the farmers do enjoy the game, even if they sell the isk for real currency to feed themselves.
So who is really to judge, whether someone is mining for fun, profit, or both, it comes down to the same thing anyway.
Bottom line : Find something you enjoy doing, and do it.
When that ends, find something different you enjoy doing, and do that.
The game is always gonna evolve, sometimes mining is uber-profitable, sometimes it sucks because of all the farmers dumping cheap ore and minerals on the market. Thats why we the players have to evolve with it.
I have mining 4 and astrogeo 3, but I'm not a miner, but you know if I ever found myself in a sector full of Crokite and Bistot, I would jump into a mining cruiser and suck down those roids like a cokehead diving into a mountain of cokaine.

Edited by: Amerrus Eka on 01/03/2006 22:14:44 Yeah, those Italian marcos mining really irk me, too.
I'll be here all week.
Anyway. Although I'm new here (well, came back to EVE after a hiatus playing WoW), I'm not so sure it's such a big problem. I'm very sceptical if CCP actually does anything about the reported macroers. The macroers are, after all, paying customers and it's very costly to hunt them down one by one.
So, I'd suggest everyone who hates macroers (who doesn't?) to hunt these "players" down, and gank them to oblivion. And then report them if you think that makes a difference.
I'm sure some concerted efforts to eradicate macroers in one region would make them move to another. Sadly (?) I'm pretty confident in saying that macroers are here to stay, as the success of EVE brings more players (ie. money) into macroing. So the only thing we are doing by ganking and reporting them is to move them to another region and/or to put them back an hour or two of work.
And what Tony said was very well put. I'd like to point out that griefing macroers means that someone who's getting paid a few dollars per day doing the macroing is gonna have a really bad day at work and might not be able to eat because of you. Not saying we shouldn't be allowed to attack them (it's a dog eat dog world in EVE, after all), but that's just some food for thought.

I utterly detest macro miners and all manner of bots - but one thing I hate even more are self-appointed vigilantes who harrass me while i'm minding my own business and playing the game.
These are the same sort of people who used to swim around in front of my bobber in WoW because anyone who sits and fishes must be a bot!

If you look through ebay and count how much isk is for sale, then figure out how much it's all worth. You'd be amazed.
Now look through their sales and see how much money they make on an av week. I counted one up and he was making around $3000 US per week.
Tell me what's going to stop persude someone to stop doing that? Fear the Ibis of doom. |

I don't get why people think that a bounty should be put on macro miners, and open season declared on them. Admittedly it'd be fun, but they should just be banned and written out of existance.

I know it will sound stupid but I'll tell anyway.
one of the biggest problem in FFXI was Gil selling (the money there) so to counter that, the devs did a limit to the money transfers between players (1 million, actually)
so now if you buy let's say 40 millions to a gil seller, well the gil seller must send you 40 times 1 million and wait each time for you to actually pick the 1 million in your inbox.
so it's a big waste of time for them, and it's proven a quite good tactic, for the price in the Auction House are starting to drop and go to a normal again (it caused a pretty big inflation of the prices, where one item that was worth 4m could be sold 20m o_0)
So maybe we could do this here too, it might surely help...

As its illegal to sell something that doesn't belong to you and CCP retain all the rights to EVE including isk, ebay etc are breaking the law buy allowing isk to be sold on their auction sites imo. ebay's own rules state that you can't sell anything that doesn't belong to you also.
CCP should be popping round to the auction site companies with a few lawyers.
Isk farming and macro'ing does suck but as has been stated here before if the player base didn't cheat in this way by buying isk there wouldn't be a market for it in RL.

Thats all very well in theory, but why punish the many players who have multiple accounts and transfer cash between them all the time because of a minority of isk farming ebayers?
I wouldn't like to have to do 1000 transactions next time I transfer a billion to one of my other characters

well its been discussed they cant do anything about ebay. Except to ask for these things to be taken down.
No the easiest way is to employ a full time dev if CCP are serious just to look at macro miners and BAN THEM. The new blood patch apparently has GM macro spotting tools so our favourite over petitioned macro bots and ISK farmers in youre nearest high sec roid belt will soon be hopefully moved
Tho i think CCP dont remove all of em because in some political areas with certain countries where this is rife it might upset deployment of a certain 2nd server.
Course its not just that one country where farmers are from but take a look at the chinesse language channel and u can see youre favourite near certain macro miners posting the following syming18> , bot2> .. Bot3> ugly
Now agent search these bots find em in the belts and whola there are 50 others with nera names all working in tandom - so what do u do petition em - response thanks for this we are looking into it ....
6 months later guess what youre favourite bot is still there

Nice thread var'ulfur. The issue concerning macrominers/iskfarmers has been my top priority gamewize for the last 3 months. I just got fed up with the immense impact they have on regular players - miners as any really. I started to do the intel on these people and was amazed to see how many they are. Im up to about 75-100 accounts which ive checked and chased in these last 3 months - and thats only in one corner of a region, and not in a busy one by far. When thats said i must admit that ive really grown addicted to this way of playing the game;), sad but true. Still i hope that the GMs will have improved tools to pin down most of these leechers. Its impossible to get all of them, i know that, so the canflagging feature is really the best new thing in EvE since T2:) It gives us the possibility to go after these cheaters and have some fun while we do it. M8 - look me up ingame if you need any pointers on how this works - u prolly know already but its nice to work with kindred spirits with the same agenda. There is an ingame channel for intel on the macros which im not gonna mention here for various reasons;) Fly safe and dont be a stanger! Cheers Z

we have th eodd macro hunt with the corp every so often, it passes the time when missions and minign are getting tedious. I would have thought that CCP's legal department shud contact ebay with links to ISK sellers accounts so that eBay or other auction sites can close the auctions as well.
Its deffinitly been ruining the game recently and as a miner and builder myself its getting harder to mine minerals and make a good profit from ship sales as the mineral prices have bottomed out cos they selling minerals for base prices.
I was unemployed for the first year i was in game and i played loads and if it came to that now i think i would soon lose interest ingame if i had to race to belts to get a good days minign in. With th eadvent of th eminign skills and vessels summat needs to be done abotu the asteroids belts (sumone listed these n an earlier post too) to be able to make sure dreadnaughts and titans and ur othe rcapital ships can continue to be buitl the rocks need to get bigger, quicker.

Not that simple when they span country boarders.
Secondly they could just shut down and start another operation up.
Better to just cut them off at the source.
Which are these new tools. Which likely monitor repetative actions with very good timing. They could also act as a multiplier on each other's "alert" level if more than one person is picking up like this in the same system. ie: several ships all macroed up to do the full job.
Eventually they will adapt by introducing random number delays into certain flexable actions to mask the uniform nature of the macro's but you could prob still pick them up over lager periods of time.

Yeah it's a great slogan on a picket line, but in real life sentiments like these don't amount to jack... People will do what people will do, and if they didn't, we wouldn't need police, laws, or even picket lines either for that matter... It's not working for the TII ship market, and it definately won't work for EBay ISkers.
I'm not trying to be mean here, just pointing out that this statement is akin to a balloon full of hot air... It looks big and colorful, and to a 2 year old baby seems to have a lot of substance, but is really just a big bag of warm gas and is easily deflated by a well placed poke by a paperclip.
No what needs to be done is simply for the system at large to do it's fekking job. Ebay should be served with notice by CCP that it's selling stuff that is it's property.
No need to sue, just make it clear that it's not good for your business (EVE).
If Ebay doesn't comply, then sue ebay for money lost due to a product devalued by people selling your own merchandice.
The reason this crap is becoming prolific is simply because these but_tnuggets know nobody is going to do anything to em unless they grow to big and fat... So all they have to do is keep splitting thier operation any time it gets too big, Ie making multiple targets each one too expensive to go after one by one...
In a more mundane situation the angry party would sue the business that allows the criminals to do business there. Not the individual criminals.
I know... CCP why not approach some of the competition out there, and suggest you all go intogether on a lawsuit against ebay, and force them to police thier own turf for a change? Or pay you all in damages?
Just an idea... I mean crap the music industry did it with napster... Why can't the gaming industry?
Galaxion > If you drove a car shaped like a thorax women would call you Demangel > Dude... I would call.. Demangel > wait that sounded g@y I bet. Galaxion > Just a bit.
