Just as the topic says, I want to know what my fellows do before important battles or operations. Personally, I have make the last meal before that important event my favorite food. Namely Spaghetti and Meatballs with cheese. I find the carbs help keep me alert and on guard so I can make sure I do my best at the task at hand. |

I like to take a short walk around and survey the vessel I will be using for the operation. A short communique to make sure there hasn't been any lapse or problem in insurance often calms my anxiety. I also often check the munitions and/or fuel bay to make sure there's sufficient resources available in case of...complications. Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew. |

Fill my flask with rum. Grab a cigar from the humidor. Sit down to a good meal at my favorite pub. Then I take a peaceful walk around my ship, ensuring that she is ready for the upcoming storm. In the last few moments sit in the bay listening to the hum of the star port as ships come and go, then I make my way to my pod. If I don't come back today, at least I am at peace, even if the worst should happen. Blaise Cadelanne The Synenose Accord Not indicative of corporate policy unless otherwise stated. |

Battles are such a normal part of what I do that ritual would only waste my time. The closest I have is ensuring my fighter pilots are briefed on the particulars of the op and I check with my Executive officer to make sure the drones where repaired and returned to the correct bay. If it involves travel I'll run calculations as to how much jump fuel I'll need and make sure I have liquid Ozone to transfer to the cyno pilots. |

So ill be honest. When I know I am about to leave on patrol I tip over every picture in our CQ before leaving. Rotate my crews from standard operating shift to special operations shift. Keep an ear on intel channels. Brief my crew on the operation, inspect the ship and, if I expect to encounter heavy resistance, replace all nonessential crew members with specialized AI. When piloting basic frigates, and sometimes even destroyers, I can get away with being the only living individual on board.
And finally, I make sure my clone is updated. |

I tend to keep a checklist of standard preparations; fuel, cargo, pants, ect. Any circumstancial preparations I make before my standard list. Once everything's done, I tend to wind down and relax with music flowing into my ears... As I'm still training to become a trader, most of my mind is occupied with reviews of market locales, possible profitable products, and other things besides. If this capsule didn't have a music player, I'd go insane. As is, I'm only mildly unhinged. |

Most combat scenarios that I plan for are sleeper drone interactions. I have set up a thorough check list that I complete prior to running each site. I first review combat statistics on the WH I am running gathering intel about any recent capsaleer combat in the system. I then perform rigourous scanning for combat capbable ships in the system. After all security checks are finished and i am satisfied that the risk level is low. I deploy my mobile depot in a safe region of space and refit my ship to combat parameters. I then flip on my recorders to monitor my engagement for future analysis of sleeper behaviors. |

Sometimes you don't have that much time before the operation to take meal. Usually I just say a quick prayer to winds or ancestors, while closing the capsule and undocking the ship. |

Though we do not seek them out, my crews must always prepare for battles with defensive and evasive tactical drilling, along with first response and safety checks.
Before important operations, however, mental clarity is paramount, beyond even satisfactorily thorough preparation. One must be rested, alert, and apt to react effectively to developing situations. I find fasting and meditation in the hours before commencing operations to be very helpful in that regard, and recommend it to my executive officers.

What do I do before an important battle?
*frowns*
Well it's not like there's any time to smoke a last cigarette. Nine times out of ten I'm doing something innocent and i get jumped by a large blob of ships piloted by people who do not speak my language. Or I might be looking for people myself, in order to return the same favor. So it's just spur of the moment stuff ... I guess?
Rituals or traditions are something reserved for organized or expected battles. I've seen none of that since leaving Empire and low security space some years ago.
Operations? Well same principle I guess. Only thing I do before those is yell out to see who wants to join in. Major (Ret.) Caldary Naval Militia | Morale Officer (Pinup model) CEO Nighthawk Exploration | Just an innocent explorer passing through-á pâä OOPE Pinup Calender applications |

If it's a battle that is some distance from our main base, then we establish an FOB and an MSR. Brief the troops on the scope and goals of the deployment - even if they're not cleared for the full details, they deserve that much.
Once we have an FOB, it's time to deploy logistically down the MSR to ensure we have the assets local to the AO. I like to be in position at least six hours before go time, but the larger the Op, the earlier you usually wind up in position. |

I don't see why would someone require some kind of a pre-combat ritual. I suppose, given that combat is something most capsuleer occur on a practically hourly basis, having some kind of a complex personal ritual sounds both creepily OCD-esque and impractical.

Hell yeah, I can't think of a more blissful way of holding your shields together than having a canister of Blue pumped into your capsule's systems!
