I know everyone says that mixed weapon systems are a terrible idea, and that you should maximize your ability to do one thing with a ship, but the new rapid launchers has me questioning that a little. Would it make any sense to put 2-3 rapid launchers on a ship and then fill out the rest of the slots with guns of your choice? The idea being you front end a ****-ton of damage at the beginning of a fight, and then maintain some damage with the other weapons while the launchers reload. Speaking with little experience here, just curious if it makes any kind of sense. |

I'd say bad idea (not terrible), but since the nerf to Rapids I'd say it's a waste of time and effort to split with a Rapid. Just don't do it. "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |

its fine, you just want to fit as many turrets as you can, and then only fill the spare slots with your rapids. If you do this, you're still sticking with making your turrets primary, which is good. The only reason to actually downgrade a turret to a rapid is due to some very specific fittings issues, such as there's no way to fit that last turret. The only time I ever did this was with the lachesis, which I wasn't putting damage mods on anyway. I fought a rupture in a stabber a few nights ago. He' scrammed me, and we both got under each other's guns so the tracking wasn't the best. I am 99% sure I ended up winning because I had 2 RLMLs, and he had only 1. I overheated and had 2 missiles left. I only fit them because I was out of neuts, so it was really accidental. And my missile skills are absolute shite. So take this one anecdotal instance for what it is worth. Personally, I'm going to fit them because it actually gave the stabber a tiny bit of DPS. I'm probably typing on an iPad, which means the auto-correct is silly and fixing typos is a pain. I ain't fixing them. |

This ^^
Tbh I think that most people have the concept of RLML all wrong. I've been thinking and it doesn't sound like a caldari weapon at all! Minnies often have spare hi slots and launcher slots. Stabber for example. Get in. Blap a shite load of missiles and then bug out. Sounds very 'minmatar' to me.
Stick a couple of the RLML in there and enjoy the front loaded dps then continue with autos. That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

Is one reason I lament the loss of all missile hard points on Ferox

If you have spare high-slots (after fitting your primary weapon system) then it is an acceptable thing to do to supplement your dps. However you must make a judgement call on whether that added damage is more or less necessary than a "utility mod" (like a Nosferatu or Energy Neutralizer). Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

Confirming it also works well with Vultute and Sleipnir , it is ideal for anti support while you are nuking something else with your guns. |

I'm of the opinion that RLML are really only useful anymore as support weapon systems. Take the Stabber/Rupture, for instance; they each have a spare utility high slot and launcher hardpoints. So fit your rack of guns, but fill the utility slots with RLMLs for a bit of front-end dps. They'll be quite nice for taking out drones in a hurry, a bit of protection against being caught by a kiting frig, or just a reasonable amount of extra dps (due to their long reload time, I'd always overheat for the full clip). |

In the end, I agree with whoever else said the new rapid launchers seem very Minmatar, and that's cool. I've always liked Minmatar's split weapon ideology. Skill intensive, but once you have those skills, it's quite cool to see your DPS coming from up to three different sources. |
