Yesterday I was trying a new Brutix setup in 0.2 during a lvl3 kill mission when I got attacked by a cruiser and frigate pirates. My first serious PvP experience, and after the initial shock and fear I figured I could take the little sods with my blaster/drones/nos/webber/tank... and indeed yes I could easily, but then they warped out just before structure. Afterwards I was thinking maybe if I had rammed them just before they jumped I could have disturbed their alignment and killed them. Is this the case?

With slow ships yes, but frigates align so fast you cannot really keep them there.

Hmmm this guy was webbed and seemed to be very sure that he could get out when he wanted. Figured it might be a surprise tactic...

isnt this concidered an exploit and therefore petitionable?
although i have seen a fleet of shuttles hlding bigger ships down by raming them from all angles while , the BS was shooting it.

I doubt Bumping could be considered an exploit, as its a standard tactic.
What used to be fun was Rocket launchers, They made battleships move outta aligment ment for a passtime, You could turn a geddon 360degrees sometimes, Used to be so funny. |

its just that some guy was complaining because him and his fleet was moved to another spot in space by a GM for bumping a freighter out of alignment, and told not to do it.

I know what post you are talking about. That was considered "gate-blocking."

Blockign gates by bumping is gate-blocking. Using it as a tactic for pirating as in lets say belts I dont see why it wouldn't be allowed. Its game mechanics...

Aye but its only considered blocking if your just trying to stop someone going through. (Ie just being childish in highsec and not letting a Frieghter go anywhere )
Bumping in lowsec will generally be because of a bs trying to give something a pounding. It will iether die or get away but theres no grounds for a petition that I can see.

Edited by: Apian on 03/03/2006 14:31:35 Bumping is a fun way to knock dreads out of motion, especially those that decide to undock, fire a few weapons and retreat to the safety of the station.
This isn't an exploit either, the only exploit related is blocking ships from moving in high

Fit a medium energy neutrilizer. They cant tank, warp, use MWD, shoot, nothing without cap.

Nossing/Neutralizing someone will not stop them from warping. You most certainly can warp without cap.

Yep, just not as far
Bumping may be a very good solution to PvPers that are tired of WCS, just fit 2 webs, bump a few times and they wont ever get to align :D

Nothing like killing indies in a Claw with a MWD and web, yea.
I can see the highsec issue where the ONLY idea is to stop the ship, but if you have a serious attempt to kill it going on, can't see the issue :)

You can warp without cap. In fact it is best to warp without cap because it pretty much creates a safespot for you.

Bumping in high sec isn't so much an exploit, it more a grief tactic. You gain nothing out of it, and are doing it purly for joy of ruining someones day. Other then this, bumping is a fine tactic, and not an exploit at all.

In your dreams Every shuttle needs a pilot. A shuttle has no slots. A frigate has. Frigates also have med slots for scramblers and webber... they also have high slots!!!
Now why should anyone bring a "fleet of shuttles" to bump a single ship? Funny idea though. Just not efficient

Dual webs are very nasty against battlecruisers and the like if you're in a quick bumping ship. Lost a Brutix to a Deimos who wasn't even scrambling me once =D. Well, he wasn't bumping me either, he just wanted to break free I think. His web made me unable to align in time though. With a dual web I'd probably be perfectly immobile.
The flaw with bumping is that it is only effective against larger ships, and large ships can probably tank until you make a mistake and miss a bump.
Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not. |

dont forget to bump then web, webbing someone will just make them instawarp.
And you are able to warp on no cap for over 2yrs now.
