I have to unrelated questions that is just easier to make one thread about.
First: I really enjoy the game and would love to continue playing but I'm currently on a trial account and don't have money to plex my character. How long do trial accounts last after the trial expires before it gets deleted?
Second( and more pressing): I was confronted by another player regarding the EULA. I have another account on the DUST 514 side and am part of a fairly well know corp. As such, I felt it my duty as a member of my corp to help spread word to further expand our infantry size to dust mercs in local chat which is fairly common in my past experience. However I was confronted because my capsuleer account is not "yet" part of said corp and I was reported for fraud and claiming to be someone else (I wasn't) and could not prove my innocence at the time. Does this break EULA? If so, I will cease at once and will discontinue this activity. |

First. Your trial account lasts for two weeks. After this time is up you wont be able to log on and no skills will be trained BUT your character wont be deleted (some say CCP will after a half year or something, but i dont think they have actually done a purge like this yet).
Second. If its against the EULA or not im not sure about since the impersonation rules are a bit.. odd. At least i havent looked closely into them. If you are just advertising the DUST corp, and not saying "im this and this person who is a member of said corp" you should be fine.
As an example, i could go to local and say that i would suggest that new players join EVE uni as an example, and this would be fine, but if i said that "Im "persons name" who is a recruiter for EVE uni, you should join our public channel" i would be impersonating someone else.
Of course i COULD really be that persons alt, but there is no way for you, or anyone else, to know that for sure. So, to be safe just avoid using your Dust characters name in your adverts.
Good luck

I wouldn't worry about the EULA issue. It is common for players to have multiple alts. AFAIK, the EULA doesn't preclude you from speaking for your other legit alts. What you can't do is claim you are someone you aren't.

Chances are they just claimed they reported you, but in any case while some interpretation of the rules does seem to suggest that calling another character your alt is essentially impersonation. I am half a mind to see it as a case by case basis, as simply saying this character is my alt without actually doing anything that would disadvantage another player will likely be ignored. However the problem with recruiting with a character not in the same corp is that recruitment scams are common, and so one could see it as you trying to take advantage of the reputation of the corp and it's members for your own nefarious gains.
Your best bet is to either have your pilot in the same corp as your Dust mates, or just use your Dust Character for all recruitment. That way you cannot be infringing he rules at all in any interpretation. I once podded myself by blowing a huge fart. |

You could entirely avoid the EULA trap by using CCP's official role play speak for alt: "close friend of x". If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain. |

I am not aware of any accounts/characters that have been deleted due to "expiry". Theoretically CCP have the ability and right to do so, but in practice they make strong efforts to keep accounts and characters around forever, so you can return at any time.

He was probably referring to this section of the Terms of Service:
Quote:8. You may not impersonate or present yourself to be a representative of CCP or an EVE Online volunteer. You may not impersonate or falsely present yourself to be a representative of another player, group of players, character or NPC entity.
This rule was recently updated to clarify that impersonating other players or player groups is not fine. Despite there not being an actual change in policy, there were a lot of ruffled feathers about it, and a good amount of people are still shouting "impersonation!" at every turn in a nicely antagonizing fashion.
Your case is a bit unique since it involves DUST corp rather than an Eve corp, and I'm not sure what (if any) distinction there is there. At any rate, your best option is to send a support ticket to CCP (use the "EULA & Terms of Service" section) to clarify the legality of stuff. I think you'll be fine, but I am not a Game Master so that is not an official response/opinion. File the support ticket. Better safe than sorry.
