Does anyone know what a surefire way of countering these things becasue I had my arse handed to me today by multiple users of these dampers. Ships were Apoc loaded for damage and scorp loaded for ecm and support. I tried to use the sensor linking between the 2 ships but my apoc coulndt get close enough to the scorp ie.. I think I was jammed down to 750m. But would this help any in the first place?

using sensor boosters is a surefire way, however, you would need 2 boosters to counter 1 dampener.
Another way to counter it is, putting a dampener and sensor boosters(bugged atm), then target the enemy first, before they get you.

-use sensor boosters, target them first, and destroy...
-use sensor boosters, target first and ECM them
-use sensor boosters, target first, and use dampers
-get very close <10km
-run for the hills
-have backup .

Like any EW modules, if you have multiple guys trying to shut you down, you're not going to be able to target. Best bet is to run away or call for backup.

BTW - would you consider that you keep a target after your sensor range has been reduced below your distance to said target (or that target moves out of your uninhibitied sensor range; not very likely, but could happen when the jump-in-mechanics get changed) a bug or a feature?
I would rather call it a bug, since it's not very logical. It's like still knowing the exact position of a (silent) moving object in your room after the lights have turned off.

I think you only keep your target until you try to fire. Or that's how things work the last time I tested them. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

I'd have to say bug :D The whole point of ECM modules is to make you lose your target lock :)

It gives you a chance to get back within your target lock range (before you activate anything) and not have to suffer from the increased targetting time. I think that's a good thing.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

If you loose the lock when you try to fire/use other target specific devices like ecm when your target is outside your sensor range it's ok, thougth you wouldn't loose it.

I must give credit to the space invaders pirates that killed my ships at egbringer system they had there setup to completely knock anything down, except a huge fleet. Apoc and Scorp make a good team but 5 cruisers outfitted the right way can take anything down. I think I got off a few shots but then got locked down so bad that I couldnt even lock past the length of my own ship. Insurance is great, it would of sucked to loose 2 BS's at once but I was prepared to loose them and had a lot of fun doing it. To the space invaders blockade " We will meet again " that I can assure, and good going I was uterly defeated.

Additional Counters:
1) Caracal + FoF cruise missiles
2) Thorax + Heavy Drones
Neither require a target lock. But it'll be expensive. Slightly frustrating as well when you watch your FoF missiles draw fun designs in space instead of hitting a target

Drones are an excellent counter to EW. 8 drones attacking a bb is not fun for an EW bb :(
