Hi Guys,
Is it just me, or do all new players come into the game without reading the damn rule book.
OK senario, Im 20k's from the jump gate in a 0-2 system movin real slug like as my Dominix is horibly big and even slower than a snail with athaletes foot, when I note ive been targeted by another ship and he/she is firing at me. My first thought was must be another Battleship warp in behind me and as my sec rating is slightly poor :-\ cough -8.9 he thinks he is gonna take me down. I turnded my view around and see a damn frigate/newb ship :-(. I put up my tact sheilds, all of them, slight over kill i know, and say wtf are u doing stop firing or im gonna kill you, 10 secs go by and no answer. I fired of 2 vollies of 425mm Hybrid and pop he is floating in space. Then to my total surprise this guy speaks and to my even more astonishment sez that im cheating, figure that one out.,....? I said how am i cheating, answer from him, But i was shooting you for ages and you didnt die :-(). OK by this point i was thinking I realy want to pod you right now, however, as Ive left my pirate days behind me I turned my back and flew away thinking damni wish i was in )-) space right now. :-) evil grin.... PLz new players if your out there read the damn specs of ships, diferent kinds and at least flick through the manual its available to read so use it. Regards, Semmie,
P.S anyone else got any funny stories about the antics of newb players....

We ALL know that the rule book is a waste of space. You've got to give the noobs in starting frigates a bit of slack as starting the game is fairly complex.

Ok why did u destroye him, if hes new and u know it i think ur very sad to destroye him! I mean u didnt take any damage. Btw new players need to learn dont go destroying them for no reason.

ost of us are willing to help noobs with advice, or even stuff.
Though i have noticed that a lot don't listen - whether they minimise the chat screens or what I don't know. I've had a couple of abusive evemails simply because I'm mining in a big ship, or not helping them with an NPC pirate (difficult with only mining laser fitted). Even had one person accusing me of cheating because I started mining near to where he had his secure container (I logged in and started mining the same roid I was mining the day before).

I think you showed great restraint.
I'm pretty well disposed towards new players, but if someone is stupid enough to attack you, have no impact, be warned off, ignore the warning and hang around after the first salvo took out his shields and some armour - well s/he will probably need to be pod killed several times before s/he begins to see the light.
Harsh, but fair.

I think the problem is your negative sec rating! I know if you fly close to me you are going to show up as a threat but to a noob that threat signal can be a big deal. Remember back to when u were a noob and you used to get threat signals from negative sec rated players. He probably thought you were targetting him and panicked. i used to **** myself when ever this happened to me until someone I fired at explained the situation!! Let's give all noobs a bit of slack until they learn the ropes because you never know when they might come back a few nmonths later in a BB and bite ya!!

I was recently involved in an incident at a spawn point where two members of a corp. flying cruisers (Thorax and Moa) thought that targetting me would scare me away from the spawn point.
The spawn point was in a 0.5 security rated system.
Local chatlog is shown below:

[ 2003.08.24 06:52:42 ] Joshua Calvert > Too chicken to shoot, eh? n00bs. [ 2003.08.24 06:54:51 ] Joshua Calvert > That was a nice vm-15 multispectral drop...it's yours if you pod me before the cops get here. [ 2003.08.24 06:57:47 ] Joshua Calvert > Pandora, be a good girl and drop your lock. Nobody likes a n00b. [ 2003.08.24 07:07:27 ] Joshua Calvert > *****a, if you're not going to shoot, why bother locking?
-----------------------------------------------
*****a then opened fire from 20km (very nicely moving out of warp jamming range). I heard later that he lost his Thorax to CONCORD.
Just goes to show that not all n00bs fly frigates.

VM-15 drops in 0.5 or are u ****ting me? Then again the frigate rats drop better stuff than the 50k cruisers

I have been fired on many times by new players, sometimes because they mistake me for pirates, other times because their little brother or son has sneaked on to the controls:).
The truth is if one of these players are firing on you and not causing any dmg at all, its really only themselves they are doing harm(sec rating).
I dont think i would blow up their ship, maybe a few hits to drop the shields would b enough.

"VM-15 drops in 0.5 or are u ****ting me?"
I have gotten infinitely more vm-15 from an 0.5 or 0.4 system than I have in the deepest darkest outer regions of 0.0 space :D

That makes sense. The backwaters of space aren't exactly brimming with supply of high technology..
I know how you feel, though. I sailed all the way to an uncharted island somewhere in Micronesia, teeming with pirates.. and they DARED to have less sate-of-the-art gadgets than the businessmen in their yachts back in civilization. The mind boggles!
Apologies for the sarcasm.. but what do you expect? Makes no sense that pirates deep in space would have better equipment than the powerhouse of design, development and cash flow that is civilized space.

Well, in the regions that are NPC pirate "controlled" I would think that they would have high-end tech for the "defense of their space."
I could understand the systems that haven't seen a player in weeks.... Look at 1.0 systems. Teeming with battleships from CONCORD or whatever police force is around...defending THEIR systems.
Just my 0.02 ISK.
