While the new blood lines are nice, I don't think CCP did the right thing. They could have easily made changes to allow multiple characters on an account able to train skills. Instead they are just being greedy by asking us to buy second accounts. What's next, Selling us accounts with 20 million SP, but with double the monthly fee of other accounts?
It's no surprise though. This game is not bringing in a lot of new players. Telling a new/future player that they can never catch up to a veteran player doesn't make them want to stick around for some reason.
Bob the newbie: Wow man your ship is awesome when can I get one? Dan the veteran: well if you remember to train your skills every day, I'm sure you can get one in about 18 months. Dan the veteran: of course I will have an even better ship by then. Bob the newbie: that sucks man... Dan the veteran: well this game is hard core it has to be like that Bob the newbie: so when can we at least hang out together. We can pk again like the old days in UO. Dan the veteran: about 6 months from now if you train the right skills... then you can be fodder while I kill the enemies. Bob the newbie: so I'm screwed no matter what? Dan the veteran: well you could go buy a character on ebay for $500 - $1000 Bob the newbie: I could buy a new PC for that Bob the newbie: Sorry man, but I think I'll go play ___ instead. I want to play today not years from now.

Actually, the Eve skill system doesn't quite work like that.
It doesn't take too long to get nearly maxed out skills in one category of ships. Of course, there's always more ships to train and to 'round out the specialized 4's to 5's, but you'll be right up there with the best of them if you just put some thought into your training.
At least some level of specialization is key for today's new players.

Yes, that is a likely continuation of CCP logic. You spend more money, you get advantage in game. I really don't know why they don't just let you buy SPs and ISK at their website. Say $100 per 1m SPs for a char under 20m SPs, then the rates go up. Maybe have a special offer, for $20,000 you can have 3 accounts with all skillpoints needed for specific area. For an extra $50, you get a character with his eyes rolled up into his head. And just for Kayo, for an extra $100, you get a character with cat ears.
