Edited by: Lady Destiny on 05/09/2003 16:41:03 Well after much consideration I have opted for the life of a pirate. (Not another you all cry)
Mining sucks. Holding up other people sounds like much more fun.
I will start with ore theft or ransom rather as my preferred starting point.
After having spent most of my mind numbingly gathered(mining) isk on a little combat frigate and setting up my own corp.
I have proceeded into Minamater space to pillage from those ex-slaves.
In all honesty being new to the game my first foray did not go well.
I attempted hold up a Megathron cruiser for 10k isk, sad to say he did not comply and I have discovered that wasps, hurt. A lot.
I was forced to warp away with my ship on fire (what was left of it).
I am guessing the police didnt come because he used his drones rather than firing at me. But the lesson has been learnt now.
Lesson number one leave big cruisers alone.
But I figure as long as I keep trying I will learn and earn enough to start camping gates eventually.
Wish me luck or don't.
EDIT : I see that a Megathron is actually a Battleship. If I'd realised that I dont think I would have gone anywhere near it.

ROFL!
That should be prized as the quote of the month!
Can I use it as a signature? :)

for a lady, you sure have a lot of balls taking on a battleship.
as for piratig suggestions, i reccomend you try attacking at roid belts for miners. however, give them the chance of surrendering for cash, since killing unessiarily (sp) is what is giving real pirates a bad name. I for one, would probably even pay you if you came and tryed to mug me. Of course, id get my corp to hunt you down afterwards. Yeah, so make sure that you are in charge of the situation, and learn the game mechanics so you become a decent fighter, just in case things turn a bit sour. oh and expect to die a lot more then a miner, but thems the breaks with the job.
hmmm, makes me wonder how -10 sec players can still actually buy insurance on ships and clones from the empires that hate them so much. -----------------------------------------------

LOL, that megathron pilot must have laughed his ass off when a pirate in a frigate asked for 10k or else haha. Try to avoid battleship hold-ups until you can at least run a cruiser with enough ECM to nullify one. Then ask for 5mil isk hehe. ----------------------------------------------

Odd how a member of an anti-pirate corp feels he needs to give people advise on how to commit crime effectivly -Boogles- |

My Hat's off to you Lady Destiny! S**T!! Wait... I don't have a hat on... Well... if I had one then it'd be off...
Good luck with the whole pirate thing. If it works for you then cool. You might wanna try to join a pirate, merc or vigilante corp. They can help you get a better start at killing peeps effectively. Being a loner pirate has got to be difficult (unless your some kickass MF who has the ship(s) and resources to back him/herself up)

I am sure there will definitely be space for more people in the Corp soon.
As soon as I learn a bit more about the Game :)
Just made my first 10k last night :) plus a 5k bonus for killing of a pirate spawn when he asked. Not sure that is how pirates are supposed to operate but he did ask nicely and more importantly he had already paid 10k
I have definitely got to find more time to play this game
Looking into EW at the moment but I think I am going to have to get a cruiser first or maybe a few buddies in frigates I reckon from the looks of it 3 or maybe 4 frigates could take down a cruiser easily if they where outfitted right.

hey there Lady Destiny,
you may want to consider joining our little corporation for at least while you learn the game.
Read this post
Basically we only use frigates so that losses are kept to a minimum (1 lvl3 cruiser is worth around 50 frigates). But you'll learn a lot about fighting and the use of EW and its great fun. If a time comes where you think its time to move on to a cruiser and more hardcore piratism (*gulp* gate camping), then we ain't gonna stop you.
Just say s0cks reffered you, in the application. Be sure to read the post above.

Well my Lady.
Lone pirates are VERY VERY hard to find in eve.
Most pirates have a few friends, as the risk to lone pirates is very high.
For pirates, ecm is a must, if the prey can just run away each time, whats the point, all thoses medium slots fitted with ecm means less deffensive modules meaning any good ship will be more than a match for you.
You will need to hunt in groups, so get yourselves some friends.
Oh, and it doesnt take someone with balls to attack a ship that they didnt know was a battleship, thats just bad planning.
Also asking for 10k is maybe not worth it:).
MY cruise missiles cost more.
Good luck though, and maybe 1 day we will meet;)

I did think about charging more and I may put the price upto 25k or there abouts.
But lets face it there you are in your little Probe or other mining ship and a pirate swans up and asks for more than the cost of your ship in isk...phft or she asks for 10-25k isk and promises to leave you alone after that. I know where I am most likely to get some cash from. ________________________________________ For the female of the species is more deadly than the male. Rudyard Kipling
