Must be one of those new ones with bloodlines. I hope someone has done it before but if they haven't you might be on your own. Let us know what it's like.

I personally didn't think it was all that massive...there are definitely tougher ones...and I have done it for both lvl 3 and 4, against serp and angel rats.
The right hand of zazz is harder, as is angel extrav and blockade.
I was in cyclone or tempest, with basilisk as support.

Not a hard mission, you need some em/thermal resist. There were cruisers and frigates.Dont remember which one but you will need a tag if you want to continue after step 4 or 5(dont remember that too :\ )

8 what? Battleships? Cruisers? Frigs? How many of each? Some more details on this would be good.
Also, not attacking them all at once isn't my style :D.

Gate 2, I think, sends you back to stage 1 of the complex. Try gate 1.

massive attack is an old mission that was added again at RMR.
it is same idea as pirate invasion and pirate slaughter missions.
it is a 5 leg mission in non-DS.
the rats on each leg are completely random and for lvl4s could vary from as little as 3 cruisers to 2 BS, 15 cruisers and 4 frigs.
it is also one of the missions where npc destroyers, HACs and batlecruisers have been added. -

Did the tower drop anything? I know some missions have implants dropping from them and such.

Do the frigs and sentry guns stop re-spawning if you nuke the tower?
This is the first mission that's ever made me wish I could load up a couple smartbombs

No they don't. We just did a level 3 Massive Attack today with our corp. Even after you've popped the Battle Tower the Sentrys and frigs will still spawn.

Edited by: Dopper on 04/03/2006 20:00:47 I helped a corp-mate out on this today, and was very disappointed
The Overseer didn't drop a can at all. We then went 8 jumps to pick up a silver tag for 300k to enter the final section. First problem - you need a key EACH. In the bonus stages of the ganza missions the keyholder opens the gate and then you have about 15 seconds to get get through. We tried twice within 2 or 3 seconds and it wouldn't let you through without the key. Once we did get through, there was a big cruiser (Centum Loyal Hellhoud iirc) worth 281k, but he didn't drop anything. Cleared the spawn (about 3 cruisers and 3 webbing frigates) and then destroyed the 'Overseers Stash'. This DIDN'T DROP
There was a cargo container I hadn't previously noticed that I thought might have been related to the end structure, but it contained a sensor booster worth 1200 ISK
I hope we were just damn unlucky, but the only positive we came out with was that the tag isn't taken from your cargo when you pass through
Hope others have better luck with this one

Edited by: GlimmerMan on 04/03/2006 20:35:57 Does this mission still drop two sets of Overseer's Personal Effects from the structures? (8th and 14th tier was it before?)

Just finished this with a mate and the best loot I scored looting everything was an X5 engine. The whole mission overall was largely a waste of ammo and time compared to other missions like Black Hub.

So, in theory you could set up a ship with a shield booster and cap rechargers suffient to boost forever, get 5 drones out and go AFK from downtime till next downtime and come back to millions of iskies? 23 hours worth of thos swarmers must soon add up

I did this mission last night to assist a Corp member:
After a bit of chasing around for the Silver Tag required to complete this (that did not drop) we got determined and a good portion of the Corp jumped in to have a look around. After closer examination, my eyeballs were about to bleed and my eyelids were swearing to seal shut forever if I didn't back off. The illusive tag never showed up .
Finally, the ruling of suckage was made and I was granted mercy. The Corp Member thanked everyone and had pardoned all from further purgatory of the "Massive Attack" ( Yay!)
By the way, a Battleship is over kill on this one (*evil laugh here *). It's pretty much a big overspend on munitions. Never had I lost more ISK on a mission (We were thorough enough to blow everthing up). There are so many frigs that you're better off with a Cruiser, Battle Cruiser or Assault Frigate Class Ship or an entire Corp killing everything.
From what I have read about loot and payout, I think the best use of this mission is the Omber Mining.
I was happily setting course for Home Base when another Corp Member called for assistance came from 13 Jumps away.
It was another Massive Attack .

Battleship overkill? Did you do the same part 3 as me?
2x True Centum Torturer (85,313) 2x True Centum Execrator (71,250) 1x Centum Mutilator (68,439) 1x True Centum Slaughterer (65,625) 1x Centum Execrator (62,813) 2x Centum Ravisher (37,500) 2x Sansha's Demon (30,000) 2x Centii Loyal Butcher (28,125) 2x Centii Loyal Manslayer (27,000) 1x Sansha's Beserker (25,000) 3x Centii Butcher (9,000) 1x True Centii Enslaver (8,625) 1x Centii Manslayer (8,250)
...which you warp into the middle of (all 5-10KM away) and they all land hits on you at once as soon as you arrive. I have an officer mod tank comming in at 74% EM, 79.96% EX, 83.72% TH, 81.21% KI and 1 large repper was only just keeping my armour constant, granted I still didn't need the second repper on, but this has to be the toughest hit my tank has taken on a level 3 mission yet.
Oh and the worst loot I've seen yet too!
Silver tags drop on other level 3 missions from time to time, I've got at least a dozen in my hanger. I didn't find any on this mission though, and I didn't read the bit in this thread about needing one so I left all mine at home . Oh well next time.

Just did this one... how many extra rooms are there if you go to the frontlines?.. friend scouting for me in cov ops had to log off, so I never did reach the end of it.. went about seven rooms in.. didn't have a silver tag for the stash either sadly..
Did take out the battletower though, disappointing that the spawns didn't stop.. but the tower -did- drop a named nos and a fleeting webifier.. so about 8mil worth of loot on the market..
But generally.. a very -very- weird mission
Fluffy cause sometimes everyone needs a fluffy squirrel to cuddle...
