Edited by: Lomeos on 03/03/2006 22:04:05 So, I installed this game on thursday - payed for it (missed the part where you could get a trial key - my fault probably, although I still don't know where it is). Then got a message at the character creation screen about server shutdown. Appeared to be patch day - oh well...
Tried again yesterday, but post patch-problems prevented me from logging in. Tried it around 20:00h.
Now today I finally managed to create a character, started the tutorial, but it takes forever! Every time I have to click something it takes 5-10 minutes before the next screen comes up.
I really want to try this game, but up until now, it pretty much sucks. What's going on?

Edit: while writing this I got thrown out...

RMR Patch was the same, as laggy and bloody like hell. Its not the worst, its only continuing in the line since a few months.

Sorry you couldnt of joined at a worse time. The game right now is at a new low, extremely poor patch implications. I only hope they resolve for the weekend. As for me i gave up and wont get on till after the weekend, its just that bad. But give it a few days and it might be back up to good. Remember the game is REALLY smooth, especially after the server upgrade, so its not like this, they screwed something up in the code or whatever with this awful patch.

It still amazes me how after so many problems CCP still refuses to let the patching go out at say... Mondays? It would at least give some time for fixing the problem instead of ruining prime time at weekends.

I'm new too. I installed during the patch and got in that night after everything was ironed out (Well night on this side of the pond.... Early morning game-time). It was really nice. Instanteous response, everything ran smoothly. From what I hear, that's the norm. I'd say let things simmer down til the weekend. I myself am still trial, and I'm reserving my judgements until next weekend for sure.
Regardless, it beats battle.net and their patch days. |

The patch was originally set for Tuesday. But since it wasn't ready it was pushed to Thursday. Would you honestly not have been ****ed if on Wednesday they said "Ok, the patch is finished, we'll push it out NEXT Tuesday." instead of "Ok, the patch is finished, we'll push it out tomorrow."?
Instead of complaining that it was laggy due to the patch, people would complain it was laggy because the patch which is ready wasn't put in. CCP can't win. But they are doing their best.

It's certainly a shame, brother Branco, that the station and gate staff seem to be currently on strike for *more* pay, whilst us capsuleers still pay the flat rate .. for no service at all *flicks hair out of eyes with a toss of the head, and turns back to the photographers' station* ...ahhh the local media!!!!!

Very bad timing mate, eve is often like this after a major patch. They will sort it out in a few days.
This patch is rough but trust me I have seen worse

With something of a haze, yes. I seem to recall the servers came back up at 3am gmt, having been predicted to be up at 8? and it tooks weeks to fix most of the problems. ----------

Here the response on my ticked . Maiby helpful for u in the future ..
Due to circumstances we are forced to reboot the server in approximately 30 minutes. If we would not do so, it would prevent the majority of our player base from being able to play the game. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you and hope this will be our last uncheduled reboot for the time being. We recommend to all our players, they do the following before relogging into the game: If your problem was not solved with the reboot, try clearing your cache before trying to continue, even if you have done so already. ( open your ..\CCP\Eve\ folder and rename the cache folder to cache2, re log and see if all is as it should. If you have sorted bookmarks you can copy the setting folder from cache2 to your new cache folder, this may however cause your problem to resurface.) If this does not work reply to the petition and well try the best we can to solve your problem.
Would you like to open the petition ?

Hi, welcome to eve Patch day problems are temporary. They can be caused by people downloading the patch, everyone starting new characters (filling up the newbie systems), a lot of people rushing to one place to buy new items or try out new content or just bugs and technical problems. The problems get ironed out with time and the game will return to normality, or as normal as it gets here in Eve, anyway.
Joining the game around patch day is simply a case of bad timing and the server problems experienced in these times should not be taken as typical. In my experience, the 1-2 weeks after a major patch are always rocky. Just hold in there. Eve is awesome, it'd be a shame to not give it a good chance because of temporary issues.

don't worry about it. give it a couple of days and you'll be able to enjoy the game as it should be.

Essentially you joined the game just before a content expansion patch. As with Castor, Exodus and others, this means that a week of gameplay will be reduced to setting a long skill and playing FPS, unless you want to be filing a stuck and ship loss petition every day.

You happened to join on patch day, a fairly bad one at that. Ironically they just replace the entire server cluster with brand new equipment and that went off without a hitch, now a relatively minor expansion has turned into a major headache.
Stick with it, it'll be back to its stable self soon enough.

The hamsters got replaced by super hamsters which are stong but a bit thick.
The new code confused said super hamsters a bit so CCP have hired in some gerbils on a temp basis while the super hamsters are trained.
That means the game may be a bit laggy during the "paw" over phase.

Yeah but Exodus and Cold War both added a lot of new content, which always means more bugs.

Do what I do, read the identical posts of whines/rants and study fitting/order of skill training until the lag monster goes away. I kind of understand how you feel, I also started playing near patch day (not on, luckily or I might be playing some simple game like WoW ), I'm glad I stuck it through, it's freakin worth it!
Playing eve is like eating a twinky bar. *drools*
