First off, I'm sure that this is a very opinionated topic but, with enough opinions a couple ships may stand out above the others. Please explain why as I will be using this to guide a new characters training. Thanks

i believe he means which one you have had the most success with.
Personally, the blackbird for me...but this was a long time ago before exodus patch.
I once held a running battle with 2 frigates, 1 interceptor and a thorax and came out on top. I had a webbifier, 20 km scrambler, 10 mn mwd, and the rest I had sensor dampners fitted. I suppose now you would use jammers with a blackbird. In the lows I had cap relays
I destroyed the interceptor and severly damaged the thorax which forced them to retreat and let me be.
And with that...I am off to buy a blackbird again

I must agree with the thorax...I took out a vagabond (it was close) with one

BS: Dominix, Geddon would be my choice (Both Tech1 tier1 BS which are flexible and quite cheap)
BC: Brutix ftw
Cruiser: Thorax & Maller rock. Caracal can shine in some roles, same for rupture
Frigs: Punisher, Kestrel and Rifter

condor, i once took out a sniping tempest with one, he didnt have have any drones and must have been a noob cuz i broke his tank, although it did take ide say 20mins lol!

not sure any more, but the caracal with cruise missiles used to be my favirate. Could easily out damage most other ships in its class, and a couple could even take on a battleship nicely.
Then again, i guess thats the reason why the missile change came in the first place!

Definately a Raven without a doubt. The ultimate BS. Always has been. Changes have dropped its versatility a little. Now you have to change the high slots ever so slightly but.....
6 med slots. Awesome. EW anyone?
Nos proof in terms of damage potential. Launchers need 0 cap.
Pure evil. A good Raven pilot vs a good Domi pilot.... I expect the Raven wins every time.

Every Battleship Can beat every other battleship there is no uberPwnMobile as its more about setups then ships, for example
A Jammin Scorpion Cant do enough damage to break a decent tank on a domi while trying to tank its heavy drones (or even sentries DRONES). Cap hits 0 scorp isnt jamming anymore its toast.
I have tanked a Torpedo Raven in my Autocannon tempest and broke his tank just before he warped of (he had 2 stabies on)
ummm as for anything else in the battleship field solo pvp:
Scorpion as with its low dps and the fact that you cant tank and jam. Anyone who has a decent tank will eventually force you to warp or kill you with drones.
Raven Good Choice but in order to not get ganked via small ships (Hac's which are very popular among older PVP characters) you have to fit cruise missle launchers and have good skillpoints in missles Like a few million or more, and then cruise missles dont do much damage to a tanked Battleship.
Tempest, Nice Autocannon Ship, can obtain decent speeds with good to great damage and a moderate to good tank, downfall if you get caught by one or more DPS ships at long range you run out of armor Real quick.
Typhoon, Another Good autocannon ship less damage then the tempest counterpart can tank better has drones to suppliment damage (can carry 5 heavys and 5 mediums) but turrent loadout is 4/4 which mean you have to go half nos or half misles.
Dominix, Beautiful PVP ship the 5 mids and 7 lows provide a great armor tank with ewar or mobility in the mid slots with blaster or nos in the highs (will be a tight fit) when you consider its Massive drone bay and damage bonus it recieves it can rip apart most ships before help arrives, again plenty of drones to get rid of pesky frigs.
Megathon, Agaiin a nice ship, Great damage (with blasters) 5 heavy drones (more damage) and the fact that you can get a crazy tank on it (not as good as an apoc) but THIS IS the Close range UBER damage ship. and if you have a webber on aswell frigs really dont pose much of a threat.
Not to familuar with amarr battleships so ill leave them to someone else
